Cut Fabrics From Cream Fabric cut: 4 - 2 ½ ” strips x width of fabric then cut 63 ~ 2 ½” squares From background (blue) fabric cut: 7 – 2 ½” strips x width of fabric then cut 8 ~ 2 ½” x 10 ½” rectangles from remaining 2 ½” strips cut 70 ~ 2 ½” squares •

Pair up 1 cream 2 ½” square with 1 background (blue) square right sides together. For each snowman head pair 4 sets together. You will have a total of 7 sets of 4. Sew from corner to corner, trim excess and iron. Square up each triangle square to measure 2 ½”. You should have 7 sets of 4 triangle squares. Or 28 total.

Following the snowman block layout, sew together 2 ½” cream blocks, 2 ½” background (blue) blocks and 2 ½” triangle squares to form the snowman block. Remember to use a scant ¼” seam. Make a total of 7 snowman blocks. Iron. Sew a 2 ½” rectangle strip in between each Snowman block, and a strip to each end.

Now you have a strip of 7 snowman heads. It should measure 10 ½” x 58 ½” when all sewn together.

Trace 7 snowman noses onto heat n bond. Iron onto wrong side of orange fabric, then cut out and place on snowman faces. This is where you can have some fun. You can make all of your snowmen looking the same way or you can switch the noses up like I did in the sample. Iron noses in place. Using a blanket stitch sew around the edge of the noses using dark brown or black thread. If you are new to machine appliqué, practice on some scrap fabric first. Sew button on for eyes, or using DMC floss sew eyes on using a French knot.
