Jesse Owens born the 12th of September in 1913 in Oakville, Albama . He was an American track and field athlete who specialized in the sprints and the long jump. He participated in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany, where he achieved international fame by winning four gold medals: one each in the 100 meters, the 200 meters, the long jump, and as part of the 4x100 meter relay team. He was the most successful athlete at the 1936 Summer Olympics.

In 1936, Owens travels to Berlin, Germany, to participate with the U.S. team in the Olympics. Adolf Hitler was using the games to show the world a resurgent Nazi Germany. Hitler and other members of the government have high hopes that German athletes dominate the games with victories. Owens cause a surprise by winning four gold medals: August 3rd in the 100m sprint, defeating Ralph Metcalfe; August 4 in the long jump, after a friendly and helpful advice from German rival Luz Long, the August 5th in 200 meter dash, and finally by the 4x100-meter relay team gets his fourth medal on August 9. The first day, Hitler only shook his hand in the victories of Germany, and there have been claims that he refused to shake hands with Cornelius Johnson, who was African American, this left the stadium ahead of schedule. The Olympic committee executives insist that Hitler shake hands with all the medalists or none. Hitler opted for latter and not in the medal presentations. A street from berlin was named for Jesse´s name but when he returned to the US the president Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn´t want that Owens came to the white house because he was black and the president was in de middle of a campaing. After he returned to his work that was in a hotel. Finally he died in Arizona by a lung cancer. He was prized with a lot of awards like he was introduced in the Alabama sports hale of fame.
