Organization Description The University of California Student Association is a coalition of 18 student governments across the UC system, representing 200,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. UCSA educates and organizes students around higher education issues and empowers students to advocate on their own behalf for the accessibility, affordability, and quality of the UC system.
General Position Description
Under the supervision of the Organizing Director, UCSA Field Organizers are responsible for developing and implementing UCSA campaigns, and creating organizing materials; Responsible for developing and facilitating trainings for students; Travel regularly to UC campuses to meet with student leaders and provide support for student government associations; Assist Board members to develop relationships and work collaboratively with student organizations on campus; Help build campus based coalitions around UCSA campaigns and issues; Assist in developing media strategy, materials and relationships with campus media outlets; Work with the staff team to coordinate UCSA conferences; Recruit students to UCSA including: the Collective Bargaining Program, system-wide appointments, conferences and campus offices. Responsible for development and coordination of the Collective Bargaining Program, development of materials and trainings, developing and maintaining relationships with union and community labor organizations, as well as training and recruiting students for participation in the program.

Willing to travel up to 40% time and work long hours. Must have a valid driver’s license, car a plus. Experience in planning and implementing grassroots campaigns. Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast paced environment. Experience producing organizing materials. Excellent speaking, writing, and presentation skills and attention to detail. Comfortable working with and taking direction from students. Ability to work with and recruit diverse groups of students. Knowledge of student oriented higher education issues. Conference planning and training experience desired. Proficient in MS Word and Powerpoint. Adobe InDesign, excel, experience in media writing and media relations, and website development a plus.
