St. Ansgar, Iowa June 28, 2012 The St. Ansgar Community School District is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Educational Agency. The Board of Directors of the St. Ansgar Community School District met in special session in the High School Media Center at 6:30 P.M. Present: Directors Char Gordon, Ed Kleinwort, Tara Bork, and Gene Hertel. Superintendent Jody Gray. Board Secretary Lisa Groth. No guests were present. Absent: Director Steve Groth, Matt Hanna, and Bryan Shupe. The meeting was called to order by President Gordon. Kleinwort moved duly 2nd by Bork to approve the agenda. Ayes-Kleinwort, Bork, Hertel, and Gordon. Nays-None. Kleinwort moved to proceed with St. Ansgar Landscaping’s bid for high school cement replacement. The motion died for lack of a second. Kleinwort moved duly 2nd by Bork to table the high school sidewalk bid until the next board meeting. Ayes-Bork, Hertel, Gordon, and Kleinwort. Nays-None. Neil Riley will contact vendors to rebid the high school sidewalk replacement project. Kleinwort moved duly 2nd by Bork to move the regular July board meeting to July 16, 2012. Ayes-Hertel, Gordon, Kleinwort, and Bork. Nays-None. The board continued the long range planning process. Some of the topics discussed during the long range planning were the high school gym update, elementary window work, the elementary building and whether to repair or replace it, geothermal, curriculums, math textbooks and what others are using and who is having success, computer purchase, lighting in front of the high school, insulation in the elementary school attic, and window shades that reflect sunshine in the summer and absorb heat during the cold season. The board also discussed using an advisory group to work with the board and school in making the decision of whether to repair or replace the current elementary school facility. The board scheduled a work session for July 9, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 P.M. Attachments to the board minutes may be viewed at the Board Secretary’s Office.
