CALL FOR APPLICATIONS MASTER OF ARTS DEGREE COURSE IN GENDER, PEACE AND SECURITY 2013/2014 ACADEMIC YEAR The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Ghana intends to run a one-year Master of Arts Degree Course in Gender, Peace and rd Security from 3 June 2013
COURSE OBJECTIVES The overall objective of the course is to equip participants with effective tools for analytical thinking, leadership and other critical managerial skills in Gender, Peace and Security. The Specific objectives of the course are to: · Provide students with knowledge of how gender is theorized, understood and incorporated in peace and security analysis, practice and policy. ·
Ensure participants achieve the highest professional standards in Gender, Peace and Security, conflict prevention, resolution and management mediation, peace brokering and security management.

Equip graduates with specialized knowledge and skills to play a meaningful role in management and provide professional leadership in multi-dimensional Peace Support Operations, Regional Organizations, Peace Councils, National Security Councils, Border Security and National Security Institutions as well as Non-Governmental Organizations and Advocacy Groups.

Meet the demands and aspirations for continuing education of employees serving in public and private sector organizations involved in peace and security issues.

Prepare interested individuals for a career in Gender, Peace and Security.

Improve opportunities for women to attain high positions in international organizations like the UN, AU, ECOWAS, SADC etc.

A good 1 Degree (2 Class Lower and above) or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognized University. The course is opened to both male and female applicants, but female applicants are especially encouraged to apply.
