Community events In 2014, Translate Community launched with a goal to improve Google Translate. With over 100 languages, we’ve heard from Community members who want to host their own events. These members are passionate about making an impact and improving the quality of their language on Google Translate. We encourage that! Here are some examples of their awesome efforts. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Event sizes These events come in different shapes and forms. Depending on your style and experience, you may be drawn to one event over the other.

SMALL (5 - 10 PEOPLE)

MEDIUM (11 - 100 PEOPLE)

LARGE (101+)

These in-person gatherings last for an hour or two and can be held at a casual place (e.g. coffee shop, office space, classroom, etc.)

These in-person events bring a large group of people that share a common interest (e. g. students, professionals).

These events are usually held online or series of physical events that can last over a week long.

Event formats There isn’t a right or wrong way to do this! Community members have come up with their own unique way to celebrate their language. Here are some examples:

The fine print These events are hosted on a volunteer basis. It’s important to keep in mind that you are not hosting a Google event, but rather a language event for your Community. We know that hosting an event isn’t easy. When you host a Community event, Google can help by providing an Event ToolKIT. We can also connect you with other Community members so you can learn from them.
