ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS AFJROTC – Color Guard events, parades, field trips during and after school/building pride, character and strength to LHS and the community. Meets weekly on Friday, group is student-directed; students watch Anime, play Yi-Gi-Oh, or draw. Members have open studio time where they can make art independently or collaboratively without structure, limitations, and the pressure of grading. Explore various mediums and show/share work in the LHS community. Field trips are possible. Afterschool opportunity for students to learn and perform jazz music. Prior experience playing an instrument is necessary. Open to concert band instruments and also guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. Group usually performs at instrumental concerts. Mentor male students; instill a commitment to volunteerism, the Lewiston community, and academic success. Equality for all. Student government, consisting of a president, vice president, secretary, treasure, and 6 executive board members. Fundraising for prom and project graduation, as well as school spirit, are the primary roles of class officers. Class officers make-up the Student Senate. Same as above. Same as above. Same as above. Group produces and sells Collage Magazine, and art and literary piece. Afterschool group that meets and plays various video games. Multiplayer games are encouraged. Students gather twice per week to play a game of strategy and politics. Focus is on educating others about reducing our climate footprint, reducing pollution, and recycling. Group participates each year in the Maine State Envirothon. FBLA is a student organization that enhances business knowledge and skills through competitive events at the local, state and national level. Fundraising and community service projects are also incorporated, along with professional business networking opportunities.

Group that produces the LHS Yearbook. Meet to foster a safe and inclusive environment for LGBT students and allies. Service club where members volunteer to assist programs in/out of school and hopefully increase leadership skills. Group meets to knit and crochet. Promote cross-cultural awareness at LHS and to organize the International Day/Week at LHS. The club is comprised of students who have earned a varsity letter. Members have always selected a group or charity to help each semester. Compete 6+ times in a school year with other area schools (approximately every 6 weeks). The Mock Trial team participates in statewide competitions run by the Maine Bar Association that challenges student’s logic, reasoning, debate, and argumentation skills. This is the Spring production for Centre Stage Ensemble that is in the form of a musical. The show is cast in December and then work during the months of Jan, Feb, and March, putting on the show in March at LMS. Recognizes and promotes qualities of scholarship, leadership, service and character for eligible juniors and seniors. This group loves all aspects of theatre and compete at the District One Acts, as well as participate in school-wide shows and theatre events. To get outside. The Blue Notes meet once per week for two hours each session. This group performs in multiple concerts throughout the year, including three in-house concerts and other community events such as singing at the State House, Sea Dogs games, and other events in the LA area. MPA sanctioned, competition of speech that adheres to NSDA and NCFL rules. Students can compete in varying speaking/recording categories to earn points toward school ranking. Students can be single or double entered. Competitions are on select Saturdays. Build school spirit and school culture. Students fundraise and travel to a different part of the world each school year, chaperoned by faculty/staff. See description for Spring Musical above. This is an ad hoc group that meets for special wellness/prevention projects. This program is a part of AVEC and is a gifted/talented writing program for five area high schools. LHS is allowed nine participants. Young Writers’ Magazine is produced, in-house, for all program participants.
