In Th e Libr ar y Now The 2017 John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children's literature was awarded to, "The Girl Who Drank the Moon," written by Kelly Barnhill. Luna, whose magical abilities are emerging, was raised in the forest by a witch, a swamp monster, and a dragon, but when a young man from the Protectorate is determined to kill the witch, Luna must use her magic to protect her family.
The 2017 Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in writing for young adults was awarded to Sarah Dessen. Some of the titles in the TVMHS Library are: "Along for the Ride," "How to Deal," "The Moon and More," "That Summer " and several others.
