LYN House Missional Journeys: All LYN House Missional Journeys start on Friday evening and end on Sunday afternoon or Monday afternoon. Inquire with LYN House Director as to available times and weekends. What is a LYN House Missional Journey? LYN House Missional Journeys are about creating a space for learning, reconciliation and redemptive relationships in an under-resourced neighborhood. Missional Journeys are not mission trips in the sense that outsiders come in to help and save others in poor neighborhoods. Rather, it is about recognizing that the privilege of some and the poverty of others are connected to each other thorough complex histories and injustices. Through a Missional Journey a team will leave with an opportunity to engage relationally with our neighbors, have a better understanding of the issues surrounding poverty, explore one’s individual poverty (spiritual, relational, etc.), and ideas of how one can serve their own community. This journey is more about the learning than the doing. What to Expect? Missional Journeys integrate a mix of fellowship, work and experiential activities to help teams to critically think about the structures and injustices of the poor. We do this through:  Community meals: Prepare a meal and partake in a meal together with our neighbors.  Community workdays: work alongside our neighbors to improve the conditions of our neighborhood.  Experiential Activities: engage in a variety of activities that will explore the everyday lives of our neighbors.  Group Discussions: Engage in activities, discussion and teachings about issues of poverty.  Explore the City: Fun activities to explore Indianapolis MUST BE planned and arranged by your group and can happen Sunday afternoons. Price: We ask that the group donates a “love offering” of $20 per person per night. This cost helps fund our experiential activities, community meal and materials for workdays. It is the responsibility of the group to provide food for their own meals (we will provide Saturday breakfast). Lodging/Food: LYN House Missional Journey participants will stay at the LYN House. You will be sleeping on the floor and we have 3 showers for use. We have a fully functioning kitchen where you can prepare meals for your team. We do not provide food or prepare meals for the teams; this will be your responsibility. Group Size: In order to provide you with the best experience we can only take 8 – 12 people per team. For youth teams we require 2 – 3 adult leaders to accompany the team (these leaders can be in addition to the maximum number of participants).
