Magellan   Charter   School  Board   Meeting  September   15,   2016  6:30   pm 

  Board   members   in   attendance:  M   ary   Griffin,   Mike   Kaelin,   Chris   Ahn,   Richard   Kennedy,  Alison   Pulley,   Mallory   Underwood,   David   Mills,   Marcia   Davis,   Amanda   Monville    Guests:   Gina   Riggins,   Elishia   Rousos,   Missi   Hicks,   Keith   Moffat    Meeting   was   called   to   order   at   6:34pm.    Mike   Kaelin:   Board   Governance,   Ownership   &  Involvement   at   6:34pm  ● Board   agreed   to   actively   pursue   filling   the   remaining   open   Board   seat   with   a  focus   on   specific   expertise   (attorney,   fundraiser,   HR,   educational   expertise)  ● Discussion   about   increasing   the   size   of   the   Board   to   handle   the   increased  workload   from   the   expansion   but   no   final   decision   made    Current   Expansion   Status   Update   &  Property   Negotiation   Status:   Mike   Kaelin   at  8:30pm    SUP   Project   Plan   and   Costs:   Keith   Moffat   at   8:34pm  ● Board   reviewed   an   updated   Project   Plan   detailing   steps   required   to   acquire   a  certain   piece   of   property  ● Continued   work   is   needed   on   the   site   preparation   and   building   phases    Financial   Model   Overview:   Gina   Riggins   at   9:17pm  ● Board   reviewed   the   most   recent   financial   projections   for   the   expansion   plan  including   models   for   the   High   School   and   K­2  ● Current   models   show   property   estimates   remain   too   high   and   more   work   is  needed   to   lower   costs    Charter   Extension   Timeline:   Missi   Hicks   at   10:30pm  ● Board   discussed   submitting   the   Charter   Expansion   document   to   DPI.   No   final  decision   was   made   about   timing   of   submission   but   the   following   items   were  noted   for   changes:  ○ Update   the   executive   summary   for   mention   of   full   expansion   plan  including   K­2 

○ Update   Facilities   section   based   on   current   status  ○ The   Board   agreed   to   discuss   and   make   a  decision   at   the   next   Board  meeting   on   when   the   document   should   be   submitted    Meeting   adjourned   at   10:59pm.     Next   meeting   scheduled   for   Wednesday,   September   21   at   6:30pm.
