Ms. Z's Counselor's Corner MS. Z'S
Counselor's Corner On March 9th, thirteen 6th grade students attended the “Get Smart About Tobacco Program” event with our school counselor Ms. Zablotny, tutor Mr. McMullen and our district prevention coordinator Mrs. Telford.
American Heart Association's Jump 4 Heart Students in physical education classes recently participated in the American Heart Association’s Jump 4 Heart event. An important part of the PE curriculum is understanding the relevance of heart healthy exercise and nutrition and knowing the things that can harm heart health. Students learned various jump roping techniques and jumped for 40 minutes of fun and exercise. Buckeye Elementary raised over $1800.00 to help the Heart Association with their needed and valuable efforts in research and assistance. Thank you to the generous parents and community members for supporting this wonderful opportunity for our students to get healthy and help others.
6th Grade Robotics Unit Mrs. Abraham’s, Mrs. Nunn’s, and Mr. Piehl’s math classes worked in teams to create a large coordinate grid and graph ordered pairs. Students built a robot and programmed it using our EV3 Robotics Kits and software to travel from point to point on the grid.
Students listened to speakers and participated in interactive presentations to learn about the dangers of tobacco use. Our selected sixth grade students were leaders in advocating the dangers of tobacco use by sharing what they learned to students in 4th grade.
