MARKETING & EVENTS COORDINATOR Part-Time, 16-20 hours/week Wednesday – Saturday / Weekends and evenings required Bolinas Museum is seeking a professional, organized, and experienced team player to serve as the Marketing and Events Coordinator responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of Bolinas Museum marketing and communications efforts and coordination of the museum’s diverse public programs and fundraising events. The Marketing & Events Coordinator develops, designs, and implements print and digital marketing strategies that strengthen the museum’s mission and audience development goals and oversees coordination and management of the museum’s public program such as opening receptions, gallery talks, courtyard concerts, and lectures, as well as the museum’s annual fundraising events including smaller friend-raising events and larger public fundraisers. Event coordination includes the development and management of the museum’s volunteer program. The successful candidate will support the museum’s efforts to serve the museum’s mission and community, attract diverse audiences, raise awareness, increase revenues, and support the cultivation of donors and members. The museum averages 16 exhibitions, 20 public programs, and 8 fund/friendraisers annually. The position requires graphic design expertise, the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment with diverse personalities, and proficiency in managing multiple, fast-paced deadlines simultaneously. Ideal candidate will be a quality driven, selfmotivated, detail oriented yet creative, budget conscious, flexible, problem solver with experience serving a nonprofit in a marketing and events coordination role. This position reports to the Executive Director and interacts with museum staff, donors, volunteers, and members of the public. This is a new part-time, contract position (to begin), requiring weekend hours and occasional evenings. Required: Bachelor’s degree (preferred marketing or communications) or equivalent education + experience; proven graphic design and effective communication skills; minimum three years related marketing experience; related events coordination experience; experience in the arts preferred.

Marketing Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Marketing & Events Coordinator oversees the implementation of a comprehensive brand, marketing, communications, and public relations program that enhances the museum’s image and position within the general public to increase new and repeat attendance, earned revenue streams, and contributed giving in support of the museum’s mission. Marketing responsibilities include the development and management of print and digital communications materials and strategies to include institutional marketing, communications, public relations, branding, advertising, social media, and signage. Immediate Goal: Oversee upgrade of website platform and design, upload exhibition and event archives, and facilitate the addition of new web content. Marketing Duties Include • Develop and oversee the marketing and PR calendar including but not limited to print, e-news, website, newspaper, social media, press releases, and listing deadlines • Manage and update website with exhibition, event, and fundraiser details • Design and send bi-weekly Constant Contact e-news, Paperless Post invitations, and other digital marketing needs • Design, print, post and distribute biannual museum newsletter, exhibition announcements, fundraising invitations, event fliers/posters, sign boards, marquee, and event signage • Oversee press and media database, press releases and their circulation, and respond to inquiries • Draft and submit local radio PSAs • Post events to related digital and print calendar listings • Facilitate Facebook, Next Door and other social media posts as necessary • Organize and maintain digital archive of event photographs • Advise and design museum advertising, when necessary • Design and print Benefit Art Auction catalog, silent auction posters, and event signage. • Other design and marketing duties as needed 48 WHARF ROAD | PO BOX 450 | BOLINAS, CA 94924 | 415.868.0330 | WWW.BOLINASMUSEUM.ORG

Events Working closely with the Executive Director and/or the Development Associate, the Marketing & Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing museum programs and fundraising events held at the museum and private locations in and around Bolinas. Programs include opening receptions, gallery talks, tours, courtyard concerts, panel discussions, workshops, and family days, among other programs. rd Annual Fundraisers include the Memorial Day Weekend Lawn Party, July 3 Benefit Cocktail Party, Annual Benefit Art Auction (September), and the Biennial Hardly Strictly Mini Preview Party (November), and occasional Night at the Museum courtyard Cocktail Parties. Annual Friend Raisers/Member Events include Patron Thank You Party, Benefactor Walking Tour, Turkey Trot, and occasional free community parties such as ice cream socials and volunteer parties. Event Coordination Duties Include • Developing, managing and coordinating the volunteer program and volunteers for all events • Planning event aspects, such as venue, seating, tables, tents, audio/visual needs, caterers, menues, bar, rentals, décor, and hospitality items such as plates, linens, glassware, silverware, serving needs, etc. • Managing and overseeing events on the day of, including problem-solving, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, contract help and volunteers, and organizing vendors, and managing takedown • Maintaining a working relationship with vendors and venues • Coordinating speakers, artists, performers and other featured event guests • Managing event budgets and expenses, attentive to the value of staying under budget, and issuing invoices in a timely manner • Anticipating and planning for possible different scenarios • Managing supply and production storage and maintain hospitality & event inventory of cups, napkins, serving needs, wine, beer, water, cider, snacks, coolers, linens, bar towels, electrical cords, sound equipment, chairs, tents, etc. • Other event coordination duties as needed

Museum In-House and On-Line Store Manager – Oversee store inventory and design of museum products as well as manage the Gertrude Southworth limited edition photography series Gallery-sit occasional Fridays and every other Saturday (when not managing an event.) Assist in office as needed, answer calls, interact with the public, etc. Assist with procurement of silent auction lots for Annual Benefit Art Auction

Professional demeanor and excellent social skills, paired with the ability to be flexible and maintain a sense of humor Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as design, art, communications, marketing, writing, museum studies or equivalent education + experience Three years (minimum) of marketing experience Proven graphic design skills and knowledge of print production methods Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Constant Contact, Paperless Post, EventBrite, Power Point, Keynote, Facebook and Next Door and other social media. About Bolinas Museum Founded in 1983, Bolinas Museum is Marin County’s oldest and only collecting fine arts and history museum. Located in a small coastal village 45 minutes north of San Francisco, the museum was initially founded to preserve local history and later added art to its mission in recognition of the area’s great th creative talent. The Museum owns its complex of two restored 19 century buildings that are the cornerstone of downtown Bolinas. It presents an average of eighteen exhibitions a year and an active schedule of cultural events that feature the art and history of coastal Marin as well as ideas and issues relevant to the local communities. The museum currently has two full-time staff members and two-part time. The museum is composed of five galleries and the Wintersteen Courtyard. The Main Gallery offers changing exhibitions of art and history—contemporary and historical—while the Helene Sturdivant Mayne Photography Gallery features fine art photography. Regional artists are presented in the Coastal Marin Artists Gallery and the Margaret Duncan Greene Gallery displays selections from the museum’s Fine Art Collection dating from the 1800s to the present. The Floyd Russell Family History Room features history exhibits related to the town and surrounding area and displays photographs, documents and objects from the museum’s History Collections and Archives. One wall is reserved for regularly changing historical displays. Openings, concerts, Family Days, and other community gatherings take place in the Wintersteen Courtyard. Bolinas Museum maintains several collections relating to the art and history of Bolinas and coastal Marin. The History Collection is composed of over 3,000 objects, archival materials, and photographs from every significant era in Bolinas history dating from the time of the Coast Miwok, and the mid-1800s to current day. The Fine Art Collection features works made in or about Coastal Marin dating from the late 1800s to present day as well as works by important Bay Area artists who have exhibited at the museum and whose work is relevant to themes and ideas close to the community’s heart.
