Welcome and Introduction: Amira Salama, NileTESOL President -Around 300 NileTESOL members were in attendance -Amira Salama welcomed NileTESOL members to the General Assembly 2. Approval of the Minutes of the 2016 General Assembly -Attendees of the General Assembly approved the minutes with no corrections. 3. Approval of the candidate for President-Elect: Omaima Ayoub -The following candidate was introduced for this seat: -President-Elect: Omaima Ayoub (unopposed) -The candidate was announced a winner of that seat with no objection from the members attending. -Members attending the GA welcomed the newly elected candidate. 4. Vote on Proposed Constitutional Amendments The following items of the constitution were amended and voted on: -Article 1 amendments regarding addition of a Private Universities seat approved. This increased the number of board members to 18. -Article 7 amendment extending term of Past President for two years and removing the Past President’s requirement to chair the membership committee. -Article 9 removing reference to honorary members. -Article 11 requiring those selected by the board mid-year to stand at the General Assembly for election. -Article 3.1 adding new SIG By-Laws. 5. Professional Development (past and upcoming events) Muhammad Khalil Overall Responsibilities of the Committee: The mission of the Professional Development Committee (PDC) is to provide various PD opportunities to ELT professionals all over Egypt through workshops to be held in Cairo and other governorates as well as PD online resources. Members of the PDC can be contacted for any PD consultation during NT conference days and/or online throughout the year. Past Events: In 2016 and 2017, the PD Committee managed to hold events in Delta, Suez Canal and Upper Egypt governorates. -

We also visited three private universities: Pharos, British University in Egypt and Badr University in Egypt. By the end of 2018, the Professional Development Committee plans to achieve the following goals: • Approaching RELO/NileTESOL Mentors to become PD representatives in their governorates. • Providing a survey to NT members to obtain information on topics of interests for future PD events. • Launching the PD’s Teacher Resources Tab on the NT’s website. • Having a frequently updated section for PD announcements and surveys on the NT’s website. • Approaching Al Azhar institution via PD events in different governorates, on both the university and school levels. * Upcoming Events: The PD Committee is planning to go to other governorates especially in Upper Egypt where instructors do not have access to any form of professional development. We are also planning to visit governmental universities such as Cairo University. -

Presentation of Certificate/s of Appreciation to Board member/s Rotating off the BOD and Introduction of Conference Co-Chairs for 2018 (Mariam Osman & Rania Jabr) -Susan Esnawy received a certificate of appreciate for her time and effort serving NileTESOL as the Conference Chair 2017. -A welcome note was made to congratulate Dr. Mariam Osman and Mrs. Rania Jabr for taking over and becoming the conference co-chairs of 2018. 8. Introduction of the New President 2017-2018 (Alexander Lewko) -Alexander introduced himself to the audience -Gave a thank-you to Amira Salama for her efforts as President 9.
