From the Headmaster’s Desk

“Mission Possible: EXCEL!”

In this issue, the last Monday Monitor for this year, we wrap up our discussion that has been in process over the last four weeks. Why Christian education? This is the question we have been exploring. A few biblical responses have been given. Today we conclude with a response from Galatians and Luke. MVCS offers a unique scholastic opportunity that not only prepares our students’ minds, but also equips our students for life. Common sense, research, and practice confirm that a whole child approach to education will develop and prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow. A whole child approach to education is one reason. Scripture teaches that only the spiritually-minded teacher can minister to the spirit of a child (I Cor. 2:14-16). If we desire to educate the whole child, then education must include a focus on the spiritual, a focus on transforming the heart. In Luke six Scripture clearly indicates the power of the teacher to influence his pupils for good or ill. Galatians 6:7-10 affirms this truth in Luke, a child will learn what he is taught. The Word also promises and/or warns that every child will become like his teacher when he is fully grown. This promise/warning is found in Luke 6:40. This passage clearly indicates the power of the teacher to influence his pupils for good or ill. The question we need to ask is, “What worldview is my child’s teacher or school reinforcing day after day in the life of my child?” Thank you for asking the above question and for choosing Mid Vermont where the whole child approach to education helps develop and prepare your child for the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow. He Is Able, Robert R. Bracy, Jr., Headmaster

Praise  Praise God for each teacher, parent, grandparent, alumni, and friend of MVCS who has volunteered during this past year… coaching, substitute teaching, chaperoning, participating in Parent Teacher Fellowship events, sprucing up the gym, painting chairs… and so much more. Your heart to serve the Lord throughout the year, through your time and commitment to MVCS, is truly a blessing! Prayer  Pray for the Seniors this week, and their chaperones, as they relax, grow together spiritually, and prepare for what lies ahead.  Pray for the school, financially, as we finish out this school year. God has blessed this school in miraculous ways already, but as we finish out the year, we are still in need of financial gifts of approximately $10,000 to end the year in the black.

Mr. Ralph’s Corner

Well, here we are again… the last week of school. You students are anxious to be done classes, the homework, and just ready for a change of scenery. You teachers, who I have to tip my hat to, are ready for a break from the lesson plans, preparation, disciplining, correction, and overall guidance of the students. You administrators and office staff, who try to keep the school running as smoothly as possible, I don’t know how you do it! You school board members, who are constantly listening for God’s voice to direct you in the decisions that have to be made for the school… all I can say is “thank you” so much. And, you parents—may God bless you. All of the sacrifices you have to make to send your kids to MVCS does not go unnoticed. Without all of you Mid Vermont Christian School would not exist. You all sacrifice your time, your energy, and your finances to make MVCS what it is today. But wait! Isn’t that what we are called to do? Put others before ourselves; to love and honor them before God and give of ourselves so that others may come closer to Him? Isn’t that what Jesus did? I hope you enjoyed and maybe learned a little from Mr. Ralph’s corner this year. My intent is to enlighten you and share with you how wonderful Thelma and I are………?! Have a great summer! Mr. Ralph

First Grade 1st Graders observe nature and make notes in their notebooks.

Dartmouth college students blessed the 2nd/3rd class with a six week START (Students Teaching the ARTs) session on glorious math!

Presentation of home-made books.

To celebrate a fantastic year's learning, the 2nd/3rd graders spent the day in Hanover exploring words and numbers. Here three mathematicians participate in the Geometry Scavenger Hunt.

United States of America

A day in the life of a Continental soldier!

The fourth grade has been learning their USA states and capitals. While we were working on them the students made a paper plate for each state that included a map of the state, its capital, the state nickname, the state bird and flower, the date it entered the union, and places of interest to visit.

Giddy Up!
