Bunker Transition Fellowship Information Sheet Prospective Corporate Partners Timothy O’Neil, CEO, Bunker Labs Minneapolis
In 2016, we created the Transition Fellowship program in order to realize a great opportunity – assisting transitioning military service members by placing them in corporate internships. Through the Department of Defense (DoD) Skillbridge program, the Fellowship will help veterans work at civilian internships before they are formally separated from the military – allowing the service members have the time they need to build a professional network, develop a professional skill set and experience, evaluate potential careers, relocate to their desired post-military residence, and ultimately begin to acclimate to post-military life.
The Opportunity We believe this is a unique opportunity in Minnesota for veterans, our corporate partners, and for the DoD to support their strategic transition goals: § §
Transitioning Veterans – An opportunity to begin translating their immense professional military experience into an industry while still receiving full military benefits. Corporate Partners – An opportunity to support military veterans in their transition to civilian employment by providing exposure to industries through unpaid internships. In short, free labor from some of the most dedicated, driven and resourceful professionals in the world, and a first opportunity to snatch them up.
We would like to invite your participation in the Bunker Fellowship Program by agreeing to host interns, pre-selected by you, for 2-3 month unpaid internships. Agreeing to participate does not bind you to hiring or agreeing to host interns – you have full discretion to interview and decline candidates. Agreeing to participate does commit you to considering applicants that apply through our process, express an interest in your firm or your industry, and that we pre-screen for aptitude for high potential performance.
Fellowship Program Overview The Transition Fellowship is designed to create an environment that facilitates the transition from military service to the next professional career in Minnesota. The program consists of: § § §
1 Week Fellowship Introduction: The introduction conducted at Bunker’s offices in Minneapolis focuses on understanding the servicemember’s strengths and interests, networking, and leveraging military skills into civilian success. 2-6 Month Internship: Depending upon the servicemember’s circumstances, each may conduct up to two 2-3 month internships.
