SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Mohammad Al Bataineh was born in Irbid, Jordan in 1979. He received his B.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering with high honors from the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University, Jordan, in 2003. During his undergraduate studies, Mohammad used to be on the Dean's List all the time. Between 2003 and 2004, he worked as a teaching assistant at Yarmouk university where he was awarded a scholarship to pursue his graduate studies in the US. He received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with excellent distinction from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2006 where he maintained a 4.0/4.0 GPA. Between 2006 and 2010, Mohammad was a Ph.D. candidate and research assistant at Illinois Institute of Technology where he received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with excellent distinction in May 2010 with a 4.0/4.0 GPA as well. His research interests are focused on the application of communications, coding theory, and information theory concepts to the interpretation and understanding of information flow in biological systems such as gene expression. During his PhD studies, he worked as a Research Assistant at Argonne National Laboratories, Chicago, IL, and later as a Research and Development (R&D) Engineer at MicroSun Technologies, Lisle, IL. Between 2010 until now, Mohammad Al Bataineh is an assistant professor in the Telecommunications Engineering Department at (his alma mater) Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University, Jordan. Currently he is the chairman of the Telecommunications Engineering Department at Yarmouk University, Irbid, Jordan. He teaches undergraduate courses in Signals and Systems, Analog Communications, Communication Systems, Digital Communications, Probability and Random Processes for the undergraduate level, and Digital Signal Processing and Information and Coding Theory for the graduate level. Since September 2017, Mohammad Al Bataineh has been the Chairman of the Telecommunications Engineering Department at Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University. Dr. Mohammad Al Bataineh has served and continues to serve as a Reviewer for many international conferences and journals. He is an IEEE member and serves as Advisor for the IEEE Yarmouk University IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter in the Jordan Section since March 2017.
