Myanmar Mobile Education Project (www.myMEproject.org) Job Title: Full-Time Teacher position Location: Yangon, Myanmar Duration: 6 months, with possibility of extension based on performance Salary: Competitive + incentives Purpose of job: To plan, organize and deliver quality Burmese literacy, English language and Mathematics instruction for mobile classrooms in Yangon in order to empower children working in teashops within the region. Context and Environment: The aim of the Myanmar Mobile Education (myME) Project is to provide instruction via mobile classrooms to children in Myanmar who have been compelled into labor at teashop restaurants where they have to work long hours every day without access to education. The mobile classrooms provide these children an opportunity to learn basic literacy, math and computer skills in a safe environment where they can gain self-confidence and develop critical thinking skills through innovative, interactive instruction. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver student-centered instruction in Burmese literacy, English language and basic Mathematics Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment Encourage, monitor and evaluate the progress of individual students and of the class Submit brief online updates and weekly/monthly reports to myME leadership team Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of students' progress and development Administer quarterly standardized tests to students Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities Act as a counselor to students and their families Other tasks as necessary Relationships are a core component of the job: the teacher will have to develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with: • myME leadership team • Other myME teachers • myME coordinator • Volunteers and teaching assistants • Teashop owners and employers • Students’ parents
