blues legend, formed the James Montgomery Band over 40 years ago on the Boston University campus. Over 10 albums and a Grammy nomination later, James still “brings it on home” as one of the most dynamic performers in the Blues scene. His first album, First Time Out has been remastered and re-released by MRG/Capricorn Records. Other albums include James Montgomery Band on Island Records which was number nine on Billboard’s national playlist, Duck Fever with members of the David Letterman Band, Live Trax, with the Uptown Horns (the Rolling Stones’ horn section), and his release on Tone-Cool, The Oven Is On. Ashland High School alumnus George McCann will take the stage with Montgomery on guitar for this special show. In the past, Montgomery has toured with many major artists, including Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, the Allman Brothers, Steve Miller and others, and his band has been a springboard for many musicians over the years. Montgomery has recently released his 11th album which is dedicated to the late Paul Butterfield who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. The record is now being played on over 100 stations nation-wide and will most likely be on the nominating ballot for next year’s Grammys. The band will be featuring much of the new material at the Ashland High show as well as fan favorites since the band’s inception over 40 years ago!
