The Situation Books as a device of entertainment have been replaced by the devices of modern day entertainment - TV, video games, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and Netflix; immediate gratification and a seemingly endless stream of content. The inked pages of a novel simply don’t feature in the leisure time of many people today. The required effort to read a book bears many valuable fruit and as we read less, we lose an appreciation for literature and its benefits.

So how can we encourage people to read books for pleasure?

We have to acknowledge that storytelling has evolved from book pages to the pixels on a screen, but books will always contain great stories which can capture our imagination. They can co-exist.
