City of Madison’s Engineering/Operations GIS Viewing System Candice Kasprzak – City of Madison The City of Madison uses software called GTViewer for their Operations and Engineering departments (among others) to view, analyze and query various GIS data. This software is very user friendly and can be used offline. While many City departments use and deploy GTViewer, this presentation will focus on the applications for our Engineers and Field Operation Crews.

Survey123 Basics Andrew Faust – NCWRPC Survey123 is a new simple form-centric data gathering solution from ESRI. Survey123 uses XLSForm. XLSForm is a form standard created to help simplify the authoring of forms in Excel. XLSForm is then converted to an XForm, a popular open form standard that allows you to author a form with complex functionality like skip logic in a consistent way across a number of web and mobile data collection platforms. Survey123 Connect works with XLSForms to let you preview your XLSForm files as you author or edit them. Survey 123 Connect publishes your forms into ArcGIS Online and creates a feature services based on your forms specification for data collection. This presentation will show you the basics of creating a simple form and how to publish the form to ArcGIS Online for data collection.

10:20 – 10:40 Visualizing Public Investment with Story Maps Adam Dorn – City of Oshkosh The City of Oshkosh Department of Public Works has been working hard to mitigate the impacts of flooding through major infrastructure improvements. In 2015 Public Works was looking for a more consumable method of letting the public know about these investments. After reviewing a few options we decided to use ArcGIS Online Story Maps. This presentation will focus on the methods and work-arounds used to visualize Oshkosh’s investment in storm water projects.
10:40 – 11:00 Integrating GIS and Planning/Permitting David Flack – Ruekert & Mielke, Inc. Municipal planning and permitting operations use and produce large amounts of data, but that information is commonly locked away in stand-alone applications. Or so we thought! Our discussion will include understanding the planning and permitting process, technical considerations, and a demonstration of some ideas to help you unlock and visualize this data for your customers. 11:00 – 11:20 GeoReporting System – Helping Citizens and the City Government Connect David Buehler – City of Marshfield The City of Marshfield decided last year to pursue an in-house GIS solution for a location-based reporting system in order to: provide other avenues for citizens to voice concerns, provide transparency, and collect spatial data to help make better decisions and allocations of resources. The City is still working with ESRI to flush out some details, but the system is up and running. The focus of this presentation will be on lessons learned from the project. 11:20 – 11:25 Break

11:25 – 12:00 PipeTech GIS Automation Gene Olig – City of Fond Du Lac The City of Fond du Lac is using various tools to completely automate the process of ingesting PipeTech inspection data in our enterprise geodatabase. These processes include: copying inspections from the inspection truck to the server over wi-fi, transcoding videos from MPEG2 to MPEG4 format, loading inspections into the PipeTech library, exporting and then reformatting the library for ingestion into SDE, updating linear reference information, updating video hyperlinking, attaching report pdf files to the geodatabase, and copying the updated GIS data to the inspection truck. These processes occur on a nightly basis and are completed using tools including batch scripting, python, Microsoft Access (VBA), Handbrake, AutoHotKey, and Windows Task Scheduler.
