A1. Student Success “Refresh” • Date: September 23, 2014 and/or Feb 26, 2015 • Location: Peckham Assembly Hall and Computer Lab (213) Topics Include: The role of the Student Success Teacher/Teacher & Admin Team; Direct student advocacy and mentoring; monitoring and tracking students at risk; school-wide staff development in support of Student Success initiatives; student instruction (Credit Recovery/Rescue); and other Student Success Initiatives. A2. Credit “Repair”: Rescuing and Recovering Credits • Date: October 28, 2014 and/or Mar 24, 2015 • Location: Peckham Assembly Hall and Computer Lab (213) Topics Include: What is Credit Recovery and Why/How do we offer it; Creative Timetabling models to support Credit Recovery including Alternative programs (SWAC); Blended Learning in a Credit Recovery Classroom; Credit Rescue; Differentiating in a Blended Learning Classroom: using online discussions to engage and assess students in, drop boxes to track and assess student achievement, BYOD, and Desire2Learn. A3. School College Work Initiative (SCWI): SWAC Student and Staff Information Sessions • Date: November 24/25/26, 2014 or May 7/8, 2015 • Location: Centennial College (Progress Campus)/George Brown College (St. James Campus) / Seneca College (Newnham and Seneca@York Campus) Topics Include: What is SCWI?; Dual Credits; Level 1 Apprenticeship Dual Credits; School Within A College (SWAC); program requirements. Participants will leave with a “SCWI Student Success Toolkit” to assist in the selection, promotion and recruitment of students at their homeschool including interview preparation materials. These sessions also include a campus tour.

C1. Pathways to Apprenticeship Workshop Overview: This 3 part module will provide insight into the different ways students can “try a trade” and prepare for a potential career within the Apprenticeship pathway. *Module 1: Trades/Apprenticeship Teachers SCWI Forum • Date: October 15, 2014 • Location: Ashtonbee Campus, Centennial College Topics Include: NEW! Pathways to Apprenticeship Ministry document; Tour of the Trades at Ashtonbee Campus (Centennial College); Hands-on learning modules: experiential (STEM) learning for teachers; GTA college workshops: What does Apprenticeship look like at each college; and programming available in semester two: Level 1 APP Dual Credits Module 2: Tour of the Trades (Bus Tour) • Date: April 28, 2015 (East Tour) or April 30, 2015 (West Tour) • Location: West Tour (Local 27 & Humber College) / East Tour (Centennial College & George Brown College) Teachers: meet and spend time in OYAP classrooms with students (student voice); participate in a program evaluation (Culinary programs); tour the campus facilities to review other programming in trades & technology including current Dual Credit program offerings; also learn about Apprenticeship and its relationship to STEM. Module 3: Apprenticeship in the Classroom/Curriculum, • Date: May 19, 2015 (half day am or pm) • Location: Peckham Computer Lab Topics Include: Creative Timetabling to Support the Apprenticeship Pathway; Using the Student Success Dashboard to identify potential students; Recruitment and promotional strategies; Using myBlueprint/IPP to support the Apprenticeship pathway; OYAP websites and interactive programming to use in career classrooms.

Self-Advocacy in SCWI: Teacher Workshop • Date: April 21, 2015 • Location: Centennial College (Progress Campus) • Title: PREP Smart Topics Include: Disability/Accessibility Services at post-secondary college; Smart Services portfolio; and how students with an IEP/IPRC can make a smooth transition from high school to college.

Additional Learning Opportunities to Support Student Success: Experiential Learning 1. STEM This series of learning sessions will provide Experiential Learning teachers (Technological Education + Business Studies) along with other subject area teachers from the same school (forming a school team) with foundational knowledge of STEM theory and practice, in order to position students with the necessary knowledge and skills to participate in technical careers, including skilled trades. School teams will propose, develop, and implement crosscurricular learning projects through a collaborative inquiry process. Module 1: Foundation and Theory (AM) Collaborative Inquiry and Planning (PM) • Date: November 3, 2014 Module 2: Sharing and Evidence of Impact • Date: February 5, 2015 Module 3: Participation in the Spring STEM Showcase • Date: Spring 2015 2. Supporting Student Achievement & Promoting the Apprenticeship Pathway *(alternative option to Part 3, C1: Module 1) Module 1: Exploring the Apprenticeship Pathway • Date: October 16, 2014 • Location: Montecassino Hotel Topics Include: An overview of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship program (OYAP) and the various ways that students may begin an apprenticeship while still in high school; Student Voice; specific workshops to assist teachers in guiding and supporting students. Workshops will also be available that focus on the apprenticeship pathway specifically for Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs.

All workshop/module registrations will be done on Key To Learn. Space is available on a first come first serve basis. Registrations will open up approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of every ‘ITE’ session. OT Coverage will be provided for all sessions (if required) once your seat has been approved in the Key To Learn online system.
