The Fall 2017 New Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration programs take place on both Friday, August 18, 2017 and Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 pm. (Check-in starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Williams Center) There will be a one-time, non-refundable fee for the services and materials of this program. This fee will be directly added to the semester bill. All new first-year and transfer students must attend one of these two programs. Please confirm your attendance by registering online at the web address above. Workshops for parents/guests are available as well. Transcripts/Transfer Credit Students should have official college transcripts, Advance Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) exam results sent directly to the university at the following address prior to arrival: Registrar’s Office Reed Library 280 Central Ave. Fredonia, NY 14063 A complete transfer credit evaluation is necessary for proper advising. RESIDENCE HALL INSTRUCTIONS

Students should report directly to their residence hall and be prepared to pay optional hall dues ($20) when they check in. New students attending New Student Orientation on Friday, August 18 may check into the residence halls between 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. or on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. All students may return to their residence from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 or after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 20. Any student unsure of their residence hall assignment upon arrival to campus should report directly to the Residence Life Office on the 1st Floor of Gregory Hall. New students without a residence hall assignment, that want to live on campus, should contact the Residence Life Office by Wednesday, August 16 at 716-673-3341. Mailing Address Residence hall students will be assigned a mailbox in their respective hall upon arrival and should notify correspondents of their exact address. The correct address should read: Your name Residence Hall and Room number 280 Central Ave. Fredonia, NY 14063 Off-campus residents will receive mail directly at their local address. Small microwaves and refrigerators are allowed in the residence halls. You may wish to bring a radio, TV, or stereo; however, due to limited space in rooms it is advisable to coordinate this with your roommate (if possible). You should bring a supply of towels, washcloths, blankets, a pillow, and bedspread or you may wish to purchase these items locally. Containers for soiled clothes, soap, and toothbrush may be needed. Additional lighting (desk lamp) may be necessary and storage containers are useful. ResNet The ResNet Office is an Information Technology helpdesk that provides services and support for students, staff and guests living in the residence halls. ResNet provides customer service through the use of telephone, email, and face-toface assistance to students, staff and guests living in Fredonia residence halls with information technology related items. (FREDCard, Meal Plans, Debit Account, Bookstore, Dining Services) FREDCard (ID Card) Every student will be required to have a FREDCard. Students attending orientation will process their ID and select a meal plan during their selected program on either Friday, August 19 or Saturday, August 20. You must show government issued ID in which to have your card processed (Examples: Passport, Driver’s License, Driver’s Permit, or Birth Certificate and previous school ID (high school or college). There is no charge for the initial card or the first replacement card. All subsequent cards have a replacement fee of $20.00. You may obtain your FREDCard at the FSA Office beginning on Friday, August 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22 through Friday, August 26 Meal Plans All on-campus residents are required to have a meal plan and must select from Residence Life meal plans #1 through #5. Beginning on Friday, August 18, meal plans will be activated and the FREDCard must be presented. If you do not yet have a meal plan and are not able to attend orientation on Friday, August 18, please go to the FSA Office in Gregory Hall on Saturday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Sunday, August 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to select a meal plan. Bookstore The Bookstore is located on the 1st floor of University Commons. There you can find textbooks and course materials as well as a variety of personal care items, clothing, gifts, and snacks. Normal operating hours for the Bookstore are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Bookstore offers extended hours at the beginning of each semester for your convenience. Payment in full of all university charges, less approved financial aid, must be made by the due date on your semester e-bill.

Semester bills are only sent electronically, you may view your ebill by clicking on “View eBill” after logging into “Your Connection.” Payments made after the due date will be assessed a $30 Late/Administrative fee for a balance due of $30 or more. Registration of Motor Vehicles All motor vehicles parking on campus must be registered. Vehicle Registration and issuance of parking stickers will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during the first week of classes in the Williams Center. Please be sure to register your vehicle by Friday, August 25 as University Police will begin ticketing unregistered vehicles on Monday, August 28. To register your vehicle you will need the license plate number for each car you are registering and your FREDCard.

Health and Physician’s Report New students must submit a copy of their Immunization Record PRIOR to arrival on campus and complete the online Meningitis Form. Those who have not filled out these required forms and submitted a copy of their immunization records will not be considered officially registered for classes. Questions concerning this report should be referred to the Student Health Center by calling (716) 673-3131 or emailing
[email protected]. Public Health requires proof of immunization (for those students born after January 1, 1957) prior to registration at all colleges and universities in the State of New York. Two doses of the measles vaccine are required. Health Insurance Health Insurance is strongly recommended for all uninsured students. However, all International Students are mandated to carry health insurance. Please contact the Office of International Student Services at (716) 673-4975.

Transportation Fredonia may be reached by bus, plane, train, or car. Buses from all points arrive on campus daily, and persons traveling by car can take the New York State Thruway (Exit 59) or Routes 5, 20, or 86 (to 60 from the Southern Tier Expressway). It is recommended that students traveling by train or plane arrive or depart via Buffalo/Depew, NY (45 miles east of Fredonia). The university does operate a private shuttle bus to the Depew Train Station (not the Exchange Street

Station) and the Buffalo Airport during major travel weekends.
