California State Parks and California Tahoe Conservancy to Host Meeting on Land Transfer Land transfer affects parcels adjacent to Washoe Meadows State Park and Lake Valley State Recreation Area
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE/MEYERS, Calif.–California State Parks and the California Tahoe Conservancy will host a meeting on Tuesday December 15, 2015 to discuss the upcoming land transfer of Conservancy managed parcels to CA State Parks. These nine parcels are located adjacent to Washoe Meadows State Park and Lake Valley State Recreation Area. The land exchange is part of a larger comprehensive effort to consolidate California state lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin for improved land management. Nine parcels totaling approximately seventy-nine acres are going to State Parks in the Meyers area encompassing Washoe Meadows State Park/Lake Valley SRA The informational meeting will be at the California Conservation Corps multi-purpose room at 1949 Apache Avenue in Meyers from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Additional parking is available at Lira’s Market next to the CCC Center. Please park at the west end of the lot. The meeting is an opportunity for the public to ask questions of CA State Parks and Tahoe Conservancy representatives about the land transfer and view maps of the parcels to be transferred.
The official land transfer will occur upon final recording of the property documents, which is anticipated to happen by fall 2016. These land transfers were authorized in the 2012-13 State Budget, which directed CA State Parks and the Tahoe Conservancy to consolidate and exchange lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin for more efficient land management. Additional Tahoe Conservancy properties, including the California side of Van Sickle BiState Park and properties located adjacent to Emerald Bay State Park, will be transferred to State Parks at a future date.
