It’s Beginning to Feel A Lot Like Christmas! I drove to school last week to see the first house in the road bedecked with decorations. I am forced to admit, Christmas is coming. We are preparing for our performances and the office are organising tickets. We are going to be checking ticket numbers coming in so hopefully we will be able to have the space we need to ensure a safe and happy performance for all. We did book the Mill Hall for our performances but found we have a great many young children who have taken time to settle this year. As a result we felt it unfair to walk them, in the cold, down the High Street in costume, even though they would have looked adorable! There are three performances taking place, please check your tickets carefully to insure you have the performance you can make. Extra Free DNA Tests We have now received 12 extra free DNA kits. We are looking for families who in the past may have moved due to war, natural disaster or trade. By trade we mean moved for work, this does not need to be abroad and can be within the United Kingdom. We have one person coming who was evacuated during the war and would like to share their story. Other stories we are still interested in finding is someone whose family experienced the Canvey Island Great Flood of 1953. If you have an interesting story to tell we would love to hear it. We will issue our extra tests to those who are happy to have their story put on the website. Please contact your class teacher if you have a story before 8th December!

PTA News A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who volunteered to help at the discos last week. It was a successful night with all the children enjoying the fun, music and dancing. A wonderful day was had by all who went on the Selfridges Christmas Shopping Trip - a relaxing bus journey straight to Oxford Street plus delicious refreshments and discount vouchers. If you missed the chance to join in we will be offering this event again for November 2018. The annual Christmas Bazaar is approaching with many generous donations received. Please continue to use the two collection bins by the office for all additional donations. The dates for this event will be confirmed via an email shortly. With winter now here we see an increase in lost property of jumpers, cardigans and coats. Our midday assistants work hard to return missing items to their owners but this is often impossible if there is no name. Excellent, easy to use, coloured name tag stickers can be bought from MyNameTags.com. The schools fundraising code of 24429 can be applied to every order. Don’t forget we sell the Essex Pass for £8.00 (normal price £9.99) which offers loads of discount days out and would make a great Christmas present. For more information on where you can use it, visit www.essexpass.com or contact us on
[email protected] or facebook message if you’d like to buy one. Next PTA meeting: Friday 8 th Dec at 1.00pm. Everyone is welcome to come along.
