Rom. 10:14-15 – “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 1. 2. The Necessity of Hearing (“And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?”) A. What happens to people who never hear the gospel?

Inclusivism: “They also can attain to everlasting salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the gospel of Christ or his church, yet sincerely seek God, and moved by grace, strive by their deeds to do his will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience.” (Second Vatican Council) C. Exclusivism:

3. The Necessity of Preaching (“And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”) A. Evangelism requires nothing less than a verbal proclamation of the gospel (kayrusso, euangelizo)

B. St. Francis of Assisi: “Preach the gospel, and use words if necessary.” Say what?

4. The Necessity of Going (“And how are they to preach unless they are sent?”)

Great Commission verses: • “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mk 16:15) • “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (Jn 20:21) • “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Act 1:8) • “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Mt 28:19) Conclusion
