Ottawa – The Ottawa Catholic School Board EQAO results demonstrate a consistent increasing trend in grades 3 and 6 reading and a strong, steady trend in grades 3 and 6 writing. This year, the Board posted a stable result in grade 3 mathematics and a 2% decrease in grade 6 mathematics. “Due to the efforts of our committed educators, student achievement and school improvement planning remain key priorities with special attention to literacy and numeracy,“ said Elaine McMahon, Chairperson of the Board. As a result of the labour situation in public school boards, the provincial results were not released this year. The Ottawa Catholic School Board's results have been consistently higher than the province in previous years for the grades 3 and 6 reading, writing, and mathematics assessments. Percentage of students at or above the Provincial Standard (Levels 3 and 4) on the EQAO assessments of reading, writing, and mathematics for each of the grades appears below.

“We use the EQAO data to inform our Board and School Innovation Plans for Student Achievement and Well-being and address literacy and numeracy strategies at the elementary level. Mathematics results continue to be a focus for us as we work collaboratively to develop learners in a globally connected world,” said Denise Andre, Director of Education. 2015 Bette M. Stephenson Award to Our Lady of Victory School Eighteen schools in Ontario have been singled out to receive the 2015 Bette M. Stephenson Recognition of Achievement. Our Lady of Victory Catholic Elementary School was chosen because their EQAO results have demonstrated a significant increase in the number of Grade 6 students who have achieved at or above the provincial standard in mathematics, compared to their performance on the mathematics component of the Grade 3 assessment. The school’s excellent practices include developing a growth mindset, encouraging active & responsible learners, and staff co-planning.
