October  15,  2017,  Noah’s  Ark:  Genesis  6-­‐9     Key  Truth   The  rainbow  is  a  sign  of  God's  promise.     Further  Discussion:   Read  Genesis  6-­‐9.  Last  week  we  learned  about  sin  entering  the  world.    We  learned   that  people  are  separated  from  God  because  of  sin.    Adam  and  Eve  continued  to  live   in  sin.  Their  children,  grandchildren,  great-­‐grandchildren,  great-­‐great  grandchildren   (and  so  on)  were  all  born  with  sin,  and  lived  lives  that  were  not  pleasing  to  God.     For  many  years,  the  world  became  a  very  evil  place  where  everyone  had  forgotten   about  God  and  were  doing  evil  and  bad  things  ALL  THE  TIME  (Genesis  6:5).    God   was  very  sad  when  He  saw  what  had  happened  to  the  world  He  created  and  loved.     His  world  was  now  full  of  hate  instead  of  love.    Talk  to  your  children  about  the   sadness  God  felt.         God  decided  to  stop  the  people  from  continuing  to  destroy  themselves  and  the   world,  so  He  sent  a  storm  that  covered  the  entire  world  with  water.  At  this  time,   there  was  only  ONE  man  on  earth  who  still  loved  God.  His  name  was  Noah.    God  was   still  so  in  love  with  His  creation,  that  He  saved  Noah  and  his  family  from  the  flood.     God  extended  His  grace  and  love  to  Noah  by  instructing  Noah  to  build  a  very  large   boat  that  would  keep  Noah  and  his  family  safe  from  the  flood.         After  many  months,  the  rain  stopped  and  the  ark  landed  on  dry  ground.    Noah  and   his  family  left  the  ark  and  rejoiced,  thanking  and  praising  God  for  saving  them.    God   gave  a  promise  to  Noah,  and  to  us.    God  said  in  Genesis  9:12-­‐17,  that  He  would  never   again  flood  the  world.    God’s  sign  of  this  promise  is  the  rainbow  we  see  in  the  sky   after  a  storm.    Read  Genesis  9:12-­‐17  together.     Talk  to  your  children  about  how  we  still  live  in  a  world  filled  with  sin.    God  is  still   sad  about  that,  but  He  has  a  plan  to  save  us.    Do  you  remember  what  that  plan  is?     What  will  God  send  instead  of  a  flood  to  rescue  us  from  sin?    End  your  time  together   praying  to  God.    Thank  Him  for  sending  Jesus  to  save  you  from  your  sin.    Thank  Him   for  promising  never  to  destroy  the  whole  world  again.    Thank  Him  for  always  loving   you,  even  when  your  sin  makes  Him  sad.
