October 2016 Hello Sunbeam Parents! We are quickly going into fall with cooler temperatures and lots of allergies. There are many new things to be learned during this month. We will be working on the letters G, H, I and J and the numbers 2, 3, and 4. We will continue to review the previous letters and numbers as well. I encourage you to work with your child on writing these letters at home whether it be on paper, in shaving cream on a table, or you can even have them use play dough to create the letters and numbers. Our nursery rhymes for this month are Little Miss Muffet and Three Ghostesses. Reminder there will be ​NO SCHOOL ​on ​Friday, October 14​ for Fall break. There are many events this month beginning with our field trip to Hackman’s Pumpkin Patch on ​Wednesday, October 12.​ We will carpool to Columbus for this trip. Parents are invited to attend. We will leave the preschool at 9:30. The cost for this trip is $4.00. The parents are free unless you would like to pick a pumpkin then the cost is $4.00. Also siblings are allowed to attend this along with parents; however, if they want a pumpkin their cost is $4.00 as well. Money for this trip is due on ​MONDAY, October 10.​ There will be a permission slip for you to fill out so that we can allow your child to attend. We will be going on a hayride, learning about pumpkins, corn maze, and a petting zoo. We should be done by 11:00 and return to school by 11:30. On ​Wednesday, October 26​ will be our Trunk or Treat day for the Sunbeams and the Rainbows. We invite the children to wear their Halloween costume to school (NO MASKS). We will go to chapel and then be planning to Trunk or Treat around 10:00. Parents/grandparents are invited to open their trunks in the large parking lot on the opposite side of the church for our trunk or treat (weather permitting). Each child needs to provide 26 wrapped treats for the trunk or treat. Following the trunk or treat we will have some fun fall games for the kids. Parents are invited to stay and watch these activities. As the weather is changing, we remind you to send proper outside gear for your child. We will continue to go outside for recess unless the temperature falls below 32 degrees. Also with flu season approaching we remind you to NOT send your child if he/she has had a temperature over 99 degrees in the past 24 hours or has been sickly in the past 24 hours.
