Our 25th Annual Conference DoubleTree Hotel - Sacramento
October 5 – 7, 2011
25TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE KEYNOTE SPEAKER ALL-STAR LINE-UP ART BOLTON of Sacramento, CA
Keynote 3rd Annual Supported Life in 1989! 2010 Inclusion Celebration Honoree
Art is known as the principal architect of California’s unique Lanterman Act, which started the ‘entitlement to services’ that people with disabilities & families have in this State. His knowledge of working with the CA Assembly (designed the Office of Research, for example) is invaluable. Art continues thinking today about how we can save & improve the system we have. Hear Art as the Conference Closing Keynote Speaker Friday afternoon. Be prepared to hear stories about how things came about & also to be prodded to mobilize again!
ANNE DONNELLAN from San Diego, CA Returning Featured Speaker (1996, 1997, 2001) Back at Supported Life for the first time since our 15th Annual Conference in 2001, Anne is professor at the Univ. of San Diego & professor emerita at the Univ. of Wisconsin, well-known for its leadership in inclusion. Anne’s thinking on topics such as behavior challenges, what she calls “movement differences,” the label of “autism,” & the value of understanding diversity, make her perspective always thought-provoking, challenging. Her wellrespected voice - even after 40 years in the field - is always something to learn afresh from. PETER LEIDY of Madison, Wisconsin
Returning Featured Presenter/Musical Keynoter/Singer, (2002, 2004, 2006)
Last joining us at our 20th annual conference, we were fortunate to have first had Peter here early in his “new career,” where he uses music & fresh lyrics to amuse as he teaches & challenges us about inclusion, empowerment, support… He easily shares his extensive experience in our field - combined with humor & insight into what makes us all tick whether we are people working in the field, or people with disabilities or family members making use of “Human Serviceland.” Don’t miss his breakouts on 7 Ways to Prevent a Crisis” & “10 Ingredients of Quality Support.
ERIN RIEHLE of Cincinnati, Ohio Welcome Erin in her first Supported Life Conference appearance We are excited to have Erin Riehle here for the first time, with the support of Conference Partners from the bay area, East Bay Innovations. Erin is Co-Director of Project SEARCH & the Director of Disabilities Services at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She brings an exciting business perspective on how people with disabilities can learn complex but systematic jobs & end up with good careers, given the opportunity. Professionals & families will appreciate & benefit from an alternate viewpoint on this field & the benefits of creative support.
