When requesting an Absentee Ballot, provide the mailing address where you want to receive your Absentee Ballot. Pursuant to, F.S. 101.62 the deadline for submitting a request for an Absentee Ballot is Wednesday October 29, 2008 at 5:00 pm. What to Expect AT THE POLLS Here are some tips on what to expect at the polls on Election Day: FIRST, you are required to vote in the Precinct where you legally reside. Your Voter Card shows your Precinct Number and Polling Location. The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. BE SURE to take a photo/signature ID – such as a Florida Driver’s License – to the polls with you. If you changed your name, address or political party affiliation since the last Election, you should have updated the information with the Supervisor of Elections Office. Otherwise, you may face some delays on Election Day as Poll Workers verify your identity and make sure you are voting in the correct Precinct. ONCE YOU ARRIVE at your Precinct, a Poll Worker will ask to see your photo/signature ID, find your name in the Precinct Register, verify your residence address and, if it matches, ask you to sign the Precinct Register. AFTER SIGNING IN, a Poll Worker will issue you a ballot and direct you to a voting booth to mark your ballot.

Voter’s BILL OF RIGHTS (Florida Statute 101.031)

Each registered voter in this State has the right to: 1. Vote and have his or her vote accurately counted. 2. Cast a vote if he or she is in line at the official closing of the polls in that county. 3. Ask for and receive assistance in voting. 4. Receive up to two replacement ballots if he or she makes a mistake prior to the ballot being cast. 5. An explanation if his or her registration or identity is in question. 6. If his or her registration or identity is in question, cast a provisional ballot. 7. Written instructions to use when voting, and, upon request, oral instructions in voting from Elections officers. 8. Vote free from coercion or intimidation by elections officers or any other person. 9. Vote on a voting system that is in working condition and that will allow votes to be accurately cast.

You may have other voting rights under state and federal laws. If you believe your voting rights have been violated, please contact Florida Department of State, Division of Elections, 1-877-868-3737.

Voter RESPONSIBILITIES Each registered voter in this State should: 1. Familiarize himself or herself with the candidates and issues. 2. Maintain with the office of the supervisor of elections a current address.

AFTER YOU HAVE MARKED YOUR BALLOT, Place the voted ballot into the privacy sleeve and feed your ballot into the scanner. If you make a mistake when voting your ballot ask for a replacement. You can receive up to 2 replacements, or a total of 3 ballots.

3. Know the location of his or her polling place and its hours of operation.

AFTER you have finished voting and you will receive an “I VOTED” sticker indicating that you have participated in democracy.

8. Report any problems or violations of election laws to the supervisor of elections.

IF AT ANY TIME during the voting process you need help, DO NOT HESITATE to ask a Poll Worker for assistance. They are trained to guide you through the process and answer any questions. 4 |

4. Bring proper identification to the polling station. 5. Familiarize himself or herself with the operation of the voting equipment in his or her precinct. 6. Treat precinct workers with courtesy. 7. Respect the privacy of other voters. 9. Ask questions, if needed. 10. Make sure that his or her completed ballot is correct before leaving the polling station. NOTE TO VOTER: Failure to perform any of these responsibilities does not prohibit a voter from voting. (3) Nothing in this section shall give rise to a legal cause of action. (4) In case any elector, after entering the voting booth, shall ask for further instructions concerning the manner of voting, two election officers who are not both members of the same political party, if present, or, if not, two election officers who are members of the same political party, shall give such instructions to such elector, but no officer or person assisting an elector shall in any manner request, suggest, or seek to persuade or induce any elector to vote for or against any particular ticket, candidate, amendment, question, or proposition. After giving the elector instructions and before the elector has voted, the officers or persons assisting the elector shall retire, and such elector shall vote in secret. 3. Pedir y recibir ayuda al votar. 4. Recibir hasta dos boletas de reemplazo si él o ella comete un error antes de echar la boleta. 5. Una explicación si es que su registro o identidad se cuestiona. 7. Instrucciones escritas para usar al votar y, si así se pide, instrucciones verbales al votar de parte de los oficiales electorales 8. Votar libre de coerción o intimidación de parte de los oficiales electorales o cualquier otra persona. 9. Votar en un sistema de votación que se encuentre en condiciones operantes y que permita que los votos sean echados con precisión.
