Department O-2 Beef Kristin Hanson & Pete Kolpack Co-Superintendents Open Class Beef are judged with the Junior Show on Thursday of the fair starting at 2 pm No animal can be brought to the fair unless they are registered in a class. Read definitions under ATCP 160.08 (front of book) for individual class definitions. Group Classes: 1. A beef junior get of sire shall consist of 3 animals which are the offspring of the same bull from junior calf, senior calf and/or summer yearling, bull and heifer classes, with both sexes to be represented. 2. A beef senior get of sire shall consist of 3 animals which are the offspring of one sire. All of these animals shall be 2 years of age or over in beef get of sire, the name of the sire shall be designated by the exhibitor. The animals need not be owned by a single exhibitor. 3. A produce of dam shall consist of 2 animals, any age and any sex which are the produce of one cow. 4. A group of 3 best female cattle shall consist of 3 animals, any age, bred and owned by the exhibitor. 5. Stall space per animal (varies with total number entered) a. Fall heifer calves – 4 ft per animal b. Per calf – 2 ½ ft c. Per cow – 5 ½ ft 6. At least two community herds must be entered for a particular breed to compete.
