South Carolina State Report Card
State and federal laws require public schools to release report cards to the public each year. This year, the report card has been updated to reflect changes in reporting directed by the SC Education Oversight Committee. Schools will not be rated for state accountability purposes until Fall 2017 when the state will transition to a single accountability system. The following reports student performance in school year 2014-15.

The administration, teachers, and staff at Orchard Park Elementary recognize the importance of developing and expanding meaningful partnerships with our families, community, and business leaders. During the 2014-15 school year, our goal to build and strengthen these coalitions was fundamental to fostering a learning environment that focused on the academic and social successes of all students. Our school is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate with a variety of programs and practices geared towards teaching critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Helping students develop a love for learning is fundamental to building a strong academic foundation to prepare all students for high school, college, careers, and life-long learning. Teachers strive to provide an instructional environment with high expectations for student performance and rigorous standards in all content areas. Rigor in the classroom will help students realize they are capable of achieving greater academic goals. Results from MAP testing, given three times throughout the academic year, are used to drive instruction and are also a way to help students be aware of their achievements and take a personal interest in their growth. Data notebooks are maintained to chart student progress and provide each student with a visual and hands-on approach to taking personal responsibility for learning. Administration, teachers, and staff work collaboratively to ensure consistency and program successes. Student participation in competitions such as Math Madness, Future Chefs, and Battle of the Books increased the opportunity for student collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking. There are various programs designed to foster student leadership, teamwork, and community service such as student council, safety patrols, “Money Cents”, March of Dimes, Jump Rope for Heart, food drives, schoolcommunity projects, media assistants, morning news team, drama club, and character education. Parents and community leaders are valued as strong advocates and as a viable support system. Their participation in and/or contribution to the School Improvement Council, Parent Café, Literacy Night, visual and performing arts events, mentoring program, volunteer readers, “All Pro Dads” breakfast program, career day, and guest speakers supports our efforts in developing the interpersonal skills students will need to succeed in the real world. Orchard Park Elementary stakeholders realize what happens here positively impacts the futures of each of our students. Therefore, we are committed to maintaining a culture of excellence, where all stakeholders will find it to be the place where a love of learning is continually cultivated. It is our mission to help all students develop the skills and mindset necessary to be successful in a post-secondary setting, the workforce, and be prepared for the 21st century. Rosemary A. Wise, Principal Butch Rowland, SIC Chair
