[email protected] VIT University, Chennai Campus, India Nowadays in all environments, digital technology is occupying its space; from your phone to your restroom everywhere it spreads its wings. In future, plans are there to settle on Mars, already works are started and going on! Digital technology helps people, to learn from distance, to do effective Research, to cook food healthier, to play games actively, to work hopefully, to travel easier, to listen noise-free music, to live secure life, to communicate easily, to get updated news quickly, to do safe money transfer (etc). But still, there is a lag in human monitoring for security surveillance. To monitor people in very large populated countries like India, now the government has strictly enforced to link your personal data with your Aadhaar number!, What is Aadhaar? Digital technology joins hands with biometric and is doing a massive change, a silent revolution in India. The Aadhaar (Base) card (Unique identification number) was issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) and it becomes mandatory to get all government services, government welfare schemes, in India. Now Aaadhaar becomes the service superhero, and it will solve all your needs in India. All your Bank accounts, Mobile numbers, PAN card (Permanent Account Number) must be linked with the Aaadhaar number and now people’s death also monitored by Aaadhaar i.e. to get death certificate you need it. In future, Aaadhaar card will be the only icon for all your day-to-day activities in India. During collection of Aaadhaar number it is mandatory that a person must provide his/her Irish and all 10 fingerprints, these ‘vital data’ are processed and it will generate a number, then your address and other details are linked to your vital data, this generated number is your Aaadhaar number i.e. Unique identification number. According to Government’s perspective, the Aaadhaar number is mainly to stop corruption and terrorism. To identify person easily those who are disturbing the nation. Very important move in Aaadhaar is now all banking sectors and mobile network companies providing SIM must collect the Aaadhaar number from their customers, to provide service. In mobile networks to watch the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card movement and to monitor multiple SIM cards issued to the same person, to find out Anti Social, Anti National, Terrorist, activities Aaadhaar number is useful. For every new SIM card, it is mandatory to provide the Aaadhaar number. In the banking sector, the Aaadhaar number is mandatory for all your bank accounts and now it is linked with PAN number also, so if a person trying to escape from paying tax to the government or accumulating more amount of money in banks or looting the nation, can easily be caught. The basic idea for these entire things is the perfect usage of digital technology with biometrics in Human safety and National security. The Aadhaar issue is in Supreme Court of India whether it can be Mandatory or not? But in practice to get any major Government services, Aadhaar is necessary. My opinion is, in next ten years Aadhaar becomes the single window channel to get all Government facilities in India. Nowadays, for perfect security system, biometric is linked with digital technology and IoT (Internet of Things) to watch in ‘Live’. These kinds of systems can reduce people’s fear of security errors, and helps to protect them from unwanted activities. Present and Future generations are depending on Digital-Biometric-Internet of Things, the whole world is travelling on this change! And what’s about you! ‘BIOMETRIC RESEARCH’ (01/12/2017) – www.biometricresearch.blogspot.in http://biometricresearch.blogspot.in/2017/12/aadhaar-biometric-revolution-in-india.html
