Messae from The PhBBA President The need to tackle the lack of measures to address the vulnerability of the country to bioterrrorism is very important. Recent significant events like the anthrax scares, Ebola threats, chemical spills and terrorist bombing attacks have brought together scientists, researchers , policy makers, academicians, local government officials and heads of agencies to consider the need to develop and improve the security and safety of biological agents and toxins within their facilities . Likewise, this warrants the increasing demands on regulatory authorities to ensure that biologic agents and its toxin are handled in a safe and secure manner. The Philippine Biosafety and Biosecuirty Association Inc, a non profit multisectoral association is created with a vision for the enhancement of knowledge and understanding of biosafety and biosecurity issues as a scientific discipline. It is proud to be celebrating its launching through this symposium, which will foster awareness and national cooperation and build partnership among stakeholders in Biosafety and Biosecurity. The Organizing Committee has meticulously planned and arranged a high powered, all star 3 days symposium highlighting currents issues , radical situationers, threats, response and preparedness , and the future direction towards Building local and International Partnerships for Biosafety and Biosecurity.. We encourage everyone to join us and take an active part, as we pioneer to boost the culture of Biosafety and Biosecuirty in our own institutions. We offer you a rewarding and empowering learning experience so as to know the truth that will allays our fears and surely set us free.. Hope to see you all. Dr. Edith S. Tria, FPSP
