Fix Blurry Google Chrome Browser on Surface Pro and other High PPI displays By James Villalon If you’re like me, then you’re probably thinking, wow Google Chrome is blurry and ugly on your new Surface Pro. The image below is a blurry ugliness I saw after installing Chrome on my new PC.

Fortunately by simply tweaking a few settings we can make the Google Chrome sharp again along with having proportionate icons/tabs etc… on your high PPI display. Step 1: Right mouse click the Google Chrome icon, and select properties. Then navigate to the “compatibility” tab, and check the “Disable display scaling on high DPI settings”. Then click “OK”

Step 2: Open the Google Chrome browser, and in the address bar, enter “chrome://flags”. You can also just type in the word “flags” and a quick link should appear below. Once you’ve navigated to the target destination, experimental settings menu should appear.

Step 3: On the experimental settings page scroll down until you the options “Enable touch events” and “Touch Optimized UI”. Enable both of these options then select the “Relaunch Now” button. Google Chrome with close and reopen.

Step 4: Once Google Chrome has relaunched, you will probably notice that the tabs and menu’s have now increased in size, are nolonger pixelated, and are sharp. However, you will also notice that the text size when visiting websites is now very small. This is easily corrected by going to the advanced settings tab and changing the default text display size to 150% (or whatever your liking).

Note: If you do not see the changes immediately, it may be necessary to reboot your system. This is especially true if you are using Google Chrome notifications and applications which run in the back ground.
