Edcamp Sharing Sessions We ask that you please bring a laptop to the edcamp sessions. It is not required, but it will greatly enhance the experience for all present. The edcamp concept is an organic sharing session led by a facilitator. It is lacking a prepared presenter, and depends on the curiosity, expertise, and collaboration of participants who attend each session to make it valuable. This format can be very rewarding because of the high degree of interaction afforded to all participants. You are encouraged to bring examples of your favorite non-electronic teaching tools that will fit into sessions you want to attend as well. 8:35am-8:50am

Also, please consider visiting one of these local businesses. Patty recommends them and they have made donations to the association. (Each image is linked to the establishment’s homepage or facebook page.)
A local favorite with amazing food like ribs and sweet potato fries, glorious dipping sauces, beverages, and a great, warm social atmosphere with TV’s for watching the game of the day.
Established in 1934 by Lawrence and Vivian Jansen, “come as a customer leave as a friend” has been the Orchard Inn slogan since 1988. A great place for food and fun with the chance to have live music.
Gary is the manager at this fine establishment. A friendly, down-to-earth guy that is happy to help with any needs you might have. Enjoy their range by bringing your own equipment, or using a rental. He was first to offer his support for our Association, and could make a nice new traditional visit for member-enthusiasts.
A short walk from Keller Convention Center, you will find this place has food and fun that includes a little extra excitement. It is even connected to the next business on this list.
Draves Archery is an outdoor enthusiasts getaway. Find way more here than just archery, but bring your bow to the convention and relax while shooting in their range a while before your evening social event. Steve Draves will set you up if you’re looking for new equipment as well.
Tuscan Hills Winery features a wide variety of fine wines and craft beers in old world Tuscan setting on 8 acres of original farmstead with indoor seating for over 100 people and a spacious outside porch with two covered verandas that overlook our small vineyard and the hills of the old growth trees.
Thursday, May 3rd please join us for a social event at Tuscan Hills Winery in honor of our retirees and lifetime award winners following our keynote presentation by Behind the Wheel with ADHD. The event will run from 3:30 to 7:00. Appetizers and beverages will be served, a shuttle from and to the Holiday Inn will be available, and fun will be had.

Gayle Sweeney & Ann Shanahan https://behindthewheelwithadhd.com/ Gayle Sweeney and Ann Shanahan are ADHD and Executive Functioning Coaches who specialize in working with teens, college students, and young adults who have ADHD and other executive functioning issues to help them set goals and create strategies to achieve them. They also coach moms and other adults who want to explore new ways they can define and prioritize their goals, move past their obstacles, and find new strategies to create a vision around their life’s purpose and what they really want to accomplish. As co-creators and authors of the new program “Behind the Wheel With ADHD”, Gayle and Ann hope to share their passion for helping people focus on specific strengths and weaknesses in a remarkably tailored driver education experience. To learn more about Gayle and Ann’s ADHD coaching practice, visit their website: www.shanahansweeneycoaching.com Gayle and Ann were trained in the Rush Neurobehavioral Center Executive Function Skills Program© through Rush University Medical Center, completing certification in 2014. They are both graduates of “Coaching Teens and College Students With ADHD” training program through JST Coach Training, LLC. Gayle and Ann have been Guest Experts for various webinars and blogs, most recently guest bloggers for Impact ADHD. See our blog post here. Gayle and Ann taught “Special Risks Associated with the ADHD Driver” to the Illinois Driver Educators Association (IDEA), November, 2013 and they created the training workshop, “Effective Self-Advocacy in College” for the Services for Students with Disabilities department at Loyola University, Chicago.
Andy PILGRIM http://www.andypilgrim.com -- The continuance of a racer’s passion "Recent research and actually common sense, is now telling us that parents are the most critical driver education teacher to their children. So, I spend a lot of time these days talking to parent groups and corporate employees. I explain to them that distracted and reckless driving habits and behaviors are learned by their children while they watch them drive, as they grow up. Parents are many times so shocked to find out that children start paying attention to parent driving behavior as soon as they turn their child safety seats around to face front. If we had a really difficult driving test (as it is in most other countries) then much of what children see from parent driving could be unlearned, but tragically, we don’t. Parents need to know this, so they can better prepare and protect their children for the future."
Many thanks to this year’s presenters for their efforts toward making driver education in Illinois as great as it can be.
