PLOT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prom_(film) Class president Nova (Aimee Teegarden) has been planning the school's prom. She and her friends, Mei (Yin Chang), Ali (Janelle Ortiz), Brandon (Jonathan Keltz), and Rolo (Joe Adler) have created the perfect decorations, which they store in the school's shed. Nova, who has a crush on Brandon, hopes he will ask her to prom. Meanwhile, Lloyd (Nicholas Braun), the "invisible" guy at school, is complaining about prom to his stepsister, Tess (Raini Rodriguez) because he has no date but she encourages him to just ask someone. Elsewhere at the school, Tyler (De'Vaughn Nixon) is confronted by his girlfriend, Jordan (Kylie Bunbury), who assumes he is cheating on her due to the single gold earring she finds in his car. He assures her this is not the case, and Jordan believes him. "Bad boy" Jesse JESSE (Thomas McDonell) has been missing school lately and showing other "unacceptable" behavior, such as riding his motorcycle on school grounds. Principal Dunnan (Jere Burns) has a talk with him, but is not satisfied with Jesse's attitude. Mei learns she has been accepted into Parsons, which conflicts with the plans she made with her boyfriend, Justin (Jared Kusnitz), of going to the University of Michigan together. She is stressed about this and becomes irritable as prom approaches, which she agrees to go with Justin. Sophomore Lucas (Nolan Sotillo) is attracted to Simone (Danielle Campbell), his lab partner, who he tries to get with the help of his friend Corey (Cameron Monaghan). That night, Tyler takes Jordan to the school's shed, which he has decorated with many candles, to ask her to prom, and she agrees. When they leave the shed, however, they forget to put out a single candle. The shed catches fire and burns down. The next day, a devastated Nova, with no decorations and only three weeks to prom, asks her friends for extra help to pull the dance off, which they all back out of, each listing their own reason. Principal Dunnan, seeing her dilemma, has an idea, and forces Jesse to help her for Prom, or he cannot graduate. Although Nova and Jesse both are unhappy with this situation, they comply anyway. At school, Lloyd is having trouble finding a date, even with the help of his sister. As one thing goes wrong after another, Lloyd loses confidence and becomes frustrated. Later at home, Brandon shows up at Nova's house to tell her he cannot take her to prom, and that she will have to find another date. As the date becomes closer to prom, Nova and Jesse grow closer while working together. During lacrosse practice, Tyler invites Lucas to the team barbecue, and tells him to invite a girl. Lucas decides to ask Simone, which she agrees to. At Tyler's barbecue, Tyler tries to make a move on Simone, only to be rejected by her. It is made clear they have a history. Simone tells Lucas that if she had known it was Tyler's barbecue, she would not have come. Mei's attitude is becoming worse and worse, and Justin believes she does not want to go to prom. He calls the date off, and Mei is left feeling very

Jesse suggests they take his motorcycle to go check out the other school's decorations, and she agrees. However, they are caught by the police, who call Nova's parents. Nova's father is infuriated with Jesse and insults him. At school, Lucas is blowing off[clarification needed] Corey to spend more time with Simone, and asks her to study for the upcoming test with him, to which she agrees. However, as she is about to go to library, Simone is stopped by Tyler, who convinces her to talk with him. He tells her about his feelings for her. Jordan sees the two talking and immediately grasps the situation. After school, Nova apologizes to Jesse for her dad's behavior. Later, she takes him dress shopping. Back at school, Simone apologizes to Lucas for having ditched him. She has a surprise, tickets to a concert, where Stick Hippo (his and Corey's favorite band) is opening. Lucas wants to take Simone instead of Corey, much to Corey's dismay. Jordan dumps Tyler for his unfaithfulness, and decides to go to prom alone. This prompts him to ask Simone to prom, which is the same night as the concert, and she agrees. Simone tells Lucas that she is sorry, but she cannot go to the concert. Mei apologizes to Justin for her behavior and tells him the truth, but instead of feeling hurt that she is going to a different college, he tells her he is proud of her. They agree that they should still go to prom together. Lloyd spots Lucas sitting outside the school, looking dejected. He learns his situation, and tells Lucas his own mistake with girls and high school. Lloyd tells Lucas that if he really loves Simone, he should tell her. Two nights before the prom, Nova, Ali, and Mei are in Nova's room, talking. Nova confesses to them that she has feelings for Jesse, which her dad unfortunately overhears. The next day, Nova's father tells Jesse he cannot ask Nova to prom, because he is "bringing her down". That afternoon, Jesse is unusually hostile towards Nova and deserts her. On prom night, Lucas climbs a tree to reach Simone's window. He tells her how he feels and begs her not to go to prom, but she goes anyway. Disappointed, Lucas realizes what a bad friend he has been to Corey, and offers him the other concert ticket. The two head off to see their favorite band happily. At her house, Nova is heartbroken, and refuses to pose for the camera in her prom dress. Her father, worried, explains that he was the one who told Jesse not to ask her to prom. Angered, Nova storms out of the house. Meanwhile, at Lloyd's house, it is revealed that he is taking his sister to prom. At Jesse's house, his mother has a talk with him, and he realizes that he should still take Nova to prom. At the school, Tyler leads Simone into the building, and almost immediately abandons her. Simone finds out from a couple of girls that it was actually Jordan who dumped Tyler, and Tyler had gone to her with no other option. When Tyler asks her to dance (He was crowned prom king and Jordan queen) she refuses and leaves. She goes to the concert parking lot, where she waits for Lucas, and they share a dance. Nova is having an awful time at prom, and when Ali tells her the fountain centerpiece is broken, she cannot take it anymore. As she is about to leave, she hears the fountain work again, and knows the only person who could have fixed it was Jesse. He walks up to her and asks her to prom. She agrees, and they dance and share a kiss.

Athletes, overachievers, drama queens, misfits, jokers... But then, just before it ends, when we're almost out the door... one night has a way of bringing us together. Prom. It's the one night when nobody cares who wore the varsity jacket and who got cut from the team. It's the night when you might find yourself singing at the top of your lungs with people you've never even spoken to. The night when that cute guy from your math class might finally make his move. Prom's our night, and each of us wants it to be unforgettable. That's why I've been working all semester to make it perfect. For me, and for all the seniors at Brookside High. SCHOOL FRIEND: Hey, Nova. NOVA ( Still voice over) We were three weeks away and everything was going as planned. Well, almost everything. FRIEND: Has he asked you yet? NOVA: It's 8:00 a.m. FRIEND: He will! You guys are perfect together. You're in all the same AP classes1, swim team cocaptains, you've both been, like, class everything since kindergarten. Trust me, it's going to happen. FRIEND 2: Has he asked you yet? …… Well, he will. NOVA: He's never once made a move. FRIEND 1: - Well, he's Brandon. He's shy. NOVA: - Mm-hm.Or, maybe he's just not interested. FRIEND 2: Don't you want him to ask you? NOVA: Yes, I want him to ask me. It's prom! FRIEND 1: Here he comes. BRANDON: Hey, Nova! FRIEND 2: It's happening. Bye. BRANDON: Wow. Beautiful. NOVA: Brandon! Thanks. BRANDON: Posters look great. Nice job. I'm gonna do the cafeteria. NOVA (to a girl approaching) You know, Rachel, I found that prom dress you were talking about. RACHEL: Thanks, Nova. We'll be there. ( Cut to a brother and sister in front of one of the Prom posters) GIRL: You know, you could go. BROTHER: No, thank you. Prom's like the Olympics of high school. You wait four years, three people have a good time, and everybody else gets to live on with shattered dreams. GIRL: My stepbrother, folks. Can you believe he's single? Come on, Lloyd. Your fear of girls has gone from cute to clinical. It's just prom. Ask somebody. And be creative. This is your last chance to make anyone remember you even went here. ( Still in school, Nova continues to put up prom posters on the wall. A new girl approaches) GIRL 2: Wow. Nova, that looks awesome. 1
AP classes mean Advanced Placement classes, which are more difficult than regular classes, but also count for more. If you take them in high school, you have the option to take the AP test, which, if you do well, will allow you to exempt part of your college course for that subject AP is short for Advanced Placement. After taking an AP class you can take a test that, if you score high enough, can give you college credit.

( Tyler shows up, right after Nova leaves) BOYS: Hey, Tyler. Hi, Tyler. - What's up, man? TYLER . So, I saw the posters, and I thought about you. And about a party bus. GIRL 2: Hey, Tyler, can we talk? ( cut to two students who seem to be in a different thing from the others) STUDENT 1.- OK, so you can only listen to one artist for the rest of your life, and Stick Hippo does not exist. Go. STUDENT 2: - Oh, man. No Stick Hippo, the greatest band of all time? Jack White. You get three epic bands, and counting. STUDENT 1: Lucas, you blow my mind every day. STUDENT 2: OK, next one. Grunge rock supergroup, 1990-96, no Dave Grohl. Go. STUDENT 1: Oh, good one. OK, how 'bout, uh... Look at them. ( looking at 3 girls ) GIRL: I want to go to prom. GIRL 2: Well, Megan Brooks went when she was a sophomore2. So it can totally happen. STUDENT 1: It's like they're in a trance. STUDENT 2: Yeah. STUDENT 1: - Lucas, you gotta ask her out. STUDENT: Dude, you're crazy. She doesn't want to go out with me. I've got nothing to offer. No car, no cool parties, no prom. ( Nova still glueing the Prom posters) GIRL 1: Whoa, check it out. GIRL 2: Prom this year is gonna be so much fun. GIRL 3: Oh, my gosh. I really want to go with Dakota. That'd be amazing. SCENE 2 NOVA: ( trying to fix the fountain) .- OK. Come on, baby. ( it starts leaking all over) Stop, stop, stop! Stop! JESSE: And... it's leaking. NOVA: Yes, it is. Happy? JESSE: Amused. NOVA: You act all tough, but I know you. You're the guy who cried when the class hamster died in third grade. JESSE: Yeah, well, Heady didn't make me build a cosmic canopy. NOVA: You remember her name? You just need a hamster to love, don't you? This is a disaster. JESSE: A hurricane's a disaster. Smallpox. Locusts. Those are disasters. This is just a fountain. And it's just prom. NOVA: Just prom? JESSE: Yeah. Lame DJ, balloons, poofy dresses. Not something to get so worked up about. NOVA: I forgot. School functions conflict with your "thinking that I'm better than everyone" time. Well, for the rest of us, prom happens to be fun. JESSE: Not for the guys. You gotta buy dinner. You gotta get the little flower thing.

JESSE: And then there's the tuxedo, the ultimate symbol of conformity that a bunch of other guys have already sweated in. NOVA: Whereas you opt for the long hair and black jacket. The whole "motorcycle" thing. The ultimate symbol of nonconformity. JESSE: : At least I don't wear it posing in front of some stupid backdrop. NOVA: People keep those pictures forever. JESSE: : In a box in their attic. NOVA: A lot of people worked really hard on prom. JESSE: And it all burned down. Look, I'm sorry. Prom is obviously really important to you. I just don't get it. All this for one night. NOVA: Yeah, you're right. But... it's the last night, and it's the last dance. And for that one night, who we were for four years of high school... it doesn't matter. It's just all of us together in this one perfect moment. And I wanna be a part of that.
SCENE 3.BETSY ( In the library).- Ugh. Do all assigned books have to be so torturously boring? LLOYD: Oh, yeah. This is rough. Ethan Frome? BETSY: The worst! The guy falls in love with his wife's cousin, goes sledding with her, she winds up paralyzed. Snore. LLOYD: That is an incredibly accurate plot summary. ( Ring bells) Hey, listen. You don't happen to have a date to prom, do you? BETSY: Me? LLOYD: Yeah. I mean, I know it's a crazy thing to just ask... BETSY: Uh, no. It's sweet. I don't think we've ever talked before, have we? LLOYD: Maybe not. I'm Lloyd. BETSY: - Betsy. LLOYD: Short for Elizabeth? BETSY: That's right. LLOYD: Pretty. BETSY: Thanks. LLOYD: So, what do you say, Bets? Uh, prom? BETSY: Well, it could be fun. You seem nice. But I have a date already. I mean, we're just friends, we're going as friends, but, uh, prom's Saturday. I can't cancel now. LLOYD: Yeah, no, I underst... Yeah. BETSY: It's too bad. If only we'd met sooner, you know? LLOYD: Yeah. BETSY: Isn't it funny how you can go to school with somebody for so long and not even meet them till now? LLOYD: Yeah. Funny. Like sledding and getting paralyzed.
