PUBLIC NOTICE Potable Water Servicing and Infrastructure Update The Potable Water Servicing and Infrastructure Agreement with Kensington Island Properties (KIP), which will allow KIP water for their proposed future development and clean and safe drinking water for the landowners for Union Bay, was ratified in October 2017. Some of the highlights of the agreement, which is posted on our website www.union-bay.ca under “Admin Posts”, are as follows:
1. UBID has received 6.2 acres of land for both the new Potable Water Treatment Plant and 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
the new Fire Hall for $1 each. These two pieces of land were transferred to UBID under the auspice of Section 99 (1) of the Land Titles Act as of January 19, 2018. KIP plans to develop to develop 60 to 100 single family residential units in the initial phase of development. UBID will remain responsible for the provision of potable water including daily operations and maintenance. The water license is to remain with UBID. One 14 LPS Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit will be constructed in the initial phase. Once development and water demand requirements increase a second DAF unit will be installed. UBID has 5 years to remediate the existing water treatment and reservoir site once the new plant is operational. KIP must provide independent, third party hydrology studies that indicate there is sufficient water for development past the initial phase of the 60 - 100 lots.
The Trustees and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) are confident that we have achieved an agreement that benefits the Landowners of UBID and KIP which will lead us into the future.
