7. Each ball of a Hartnell governor is attached to one arm of bell crank lever. The other arm of each lever presses against the sleeve and lifts it against the force exerted by a spring in compression which surrounds the governor spindle. The pivots of the bell crank levers are fixed to the spindle at a radius of 8.5cm. The length of ball and sleeve arms of each lever are 16cm & 8cm respectively. The two arms are at right angles. Each ball weighs 20 N. the stiffness of the spring is 40KN/m. when the ball arms are parallel to the governor spindle, the equilibrium speed is 300rpm. Find the sleeve lift for an 8% increase in speed. [16] 8. (a) Draw the friction axes of the coupler of four bar mechanism.
