Thank you so very much for purchasing this pack of Reading Response Mats. In my classroom, to escape the boredom of the same old response activities, I give the students these mats to use as a response to works of fiction. Each page contains two different reading strategies the students must use when comprehending text. The different strategies allow for differentiated thinking and give the students a chance to respond to the text. When constructing the mats, I choose two of the pages that follow and place them side by side on a large piece of construction paper. Once glued down, I then laminate them. This allows the students to use wet/dry erase markers, which can easily be wiped off. The mats are then able to be reused many different times by many different students! Saves paper and copies. ** Putting the Mats Together ** Here is a quick little walk through for constructing the Reading Response Mats. 1. Choose two of the pages that follow. You may choose any two you wish, however I would shy away from choosing two that have the same strategy responses on them.
2. On a larger piece of construction paper (or tag if you want them to be more rigid), glue the two response sheets right next to each other. If you wish, you may cut off the side border to make it seem as if it is one large piece of paper. I also like to leave a bit of a border around the edges, but that is optional.

3. Laminate
4. Cut out and you are ready to go!
You can also print these sheets and use them individually! The teaching choices are endless with these.
