Theme and Course Description: Understanding refractory metals, including their extraction, processing, properties and application, is essential for anyone dealing with refractory materials, working in an academic institution, R&D laboratory or an industry. The present course deals with a variety of refractory metals in detail.

About Dr. Prabhat Kumar: Dr. Kumar, a Fellow of ASM International, obtained BTech from IIT, Kharagpur and PhD from Northwestern University. He has over 30 years of experience in Refractory Metals. He has 30 patents and 57 publications. Dr. Kumar was recipient of the prestigious Otto Bayer Medal in 2006 for research and innovation. He was also awarded Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy by the American Powder Metallurgy Institute in 2005.
