Career  Opportunity:  Research  and  Knowledge  Manager     BRAC  Uganda     BRAC,  one  of  the  largest  Non-­‐Governmental  Development  Organizations  in  the  world,  works  in  a   number  of  countries  in  Africa  and  Asia  on  poverty  alleviation  programs.  The  organization  utilizes  an   integrated  development  approach,  combining  education,  health,  agriculture,  livestock,  adolescent   empowerment,  and  microfinance.  For  more  information  visit  BRAC’s  website  http://www.brac.net.   BRAC  Uganda  invites  applications  for  suitably  qualified  individuals  to  fill  the  following  position.       Job  Title:  RESEARCH  AND  KNOWLEDGE  MANAGER   The  BRAC  Uganda  Research  and  Evaluation  Unit  is  looking  for  a  dynamic  and  articulate  individual  to   join  its  team  as  the  Research  and  Knowledge  Manager.       Principal  Duties  and  Responsibilities:   • Develop  a  knowledge  sharing  strategy  within  the  research  unit  and  the  BRAC  Uganda  office,   as  well  as  a  strategy  for  disseminating  research  findings  to  a  wider  audience   • Organize  and  facilitate  monthly  research  team  meetings   • Revise  and  edit  research  unit  reports  and  working  papers   • Use  research  unit  data  and  reports  to  create  research  previews,  research  summaries,   technical  reports,  and  other  documents  for  a  variety  of  audiences   • Develop  a  communications  strategy  for  the  research  unit  to  share  information  for  the   development  of  innovative  programs   • Create  and  maintain  in-­‐house  databases  of  relevant  material,  including  completed  and  on-­‐ going  BRAC  Uganda  research  projects  and  external  data  such  as  journal  articles  or  Uganda   Bureau  of  Statistics  data   • Promote  inter-­‐project  best  practices  and  take  the  lead  sharing  best  practices  with  projects   through  formal  and  informal  training  opportunities   • Develop  and  maintain  the  research  unit’s  web  presence   • Develop  a  communications  strategy  for  the  research  unit  to  share  findings  with  a  variety  of   outsides  audiences     • Liaise  with  other  development  and  research  institutions  to  foster  collaboration  in  on-­‐going   and  potential  projects   • Present  research  findings  and  projects  at  a  variety  of  public  forums,  including  to  non-­‐ research  focused  audiences   • Assist  with  data  analysis  on  various  research  projects,  when  necessary  and  time  allowing   • Undertake  independent  research  projects,  time  allowing       Qualifications  /  Requirements:   • Minimum  –  Master’s  Degree  in  development  studies,  social  science,  communications  (with  a   strong  background  in  research),  or  a  related  field.     • At  least  3  years  of  experience  in  a  research,  research  communication  capacity  or   development  organization   • Excellent  writing  skills  in  English     • Advanced  written  and  oral  communication  skills  for  a  variety  of  audiences  and  purposes,   including  blogs,  academic  journals,  print  media,  etc.     • High  proficiency  with  Microsoft  Office  and  some  experience  with  data  analysis  software  such   as  Nvivo  or  Stata   • Familiarity  with  both  qualitative  and  quantitative  research  methodologies   • Experience  managing  complex  projects     Job  Location:  BRAC  Country  Office,  Kampala,  Uganda
