The question of extending RELHS 97 tacihty to those retired rulway employeesalso who joined Railways late but retired at the normal ageof superannuationbefore completing20 years of service i.e. the minimum qualifiing servioerequired for joining RELHS, has been engagingattention of Minisfry of Railways for sometime. The issue was also beenraisedby both the recognizedemployeeFederations(AIRF & NFIR). After careful considerationin the matter, the CompetentAuthority in the Ministry of " Railwayshasdecidedto extendfacility ofjoining RELHS97 to all thoserailway employeeswho retired at the normal age of superannuationinespective of number of years of their service beforesuperannuation. If suchemployeeshaveany previousservicefrom any other Government Departmentwhich makesthem eligible for medicalfacility of that Departmentalso,they should opt for one of the two facilities viz. medical facility of the Departmer$of previous seryiceor RELHS.97. Otherterms andcondition ofjoining RELHS-97,mentionedin Board's letterscitedqnder reference,will remainunaltered. This issueswith the conouffenceof FinanceDirectorateof Ministry of Railways, Wfde publicity shouldbe given to the aboveposition.
