Romans—Part 45
September 9/10, 2017 Romans 8:1 FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE Can a mere human have a right relationship with a holy God?
1) The very reason ‘religion’ is so common is that mankind attempts to answer that question. With the exception of Christianity, every world religion is centered on what man has to do to make himself acceptable. What characterizes Christianity is that its answer centers on the action of God through Jesus. 2) Romans 6:23 shows the “therefore” of condemnation; but Romans 8:1 gives the “therefore” of no condemnation. 3) The heart of the gospel is that Jesus completely and permanently paid the debt for every person who believes. 4) You receive complete justification before God and are brought into the same standing as though Jesus were standing before the Father. God sees you through the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ. 5) The One able to bring condemnation is the very One who has intervened on our behalf. And the condemnation from which we are exonerated is without exception, bestowed on every true Christian (Romans 8:34). 6) Justification completely and forever releases every believer from the penalty of death and fixes on us the ability to stand sinless before a holy God. 7) Those who belong to God do fail and make mistakes, and we do sin. We suffered consequences because of our sin, but we do not suffer condemnation. 8) When you believe, you literally become a spiritual descendant of Jesus, adopted into His household and greatly loved by your Father. GREEK WORDS Katakrima (kat-ak'-ree-mah)—an adverse sentence (the verdict) :- condemnation Oudeis (oo-dice')—not even one, i.e. none, not (any, at all) QUOTES “We are actually a part of Him and, in ways that are unfathomable to us now, we work when He works, grieve when He grieves, and rejoice when He rejoices.” ~Dr. John MacArthur “It is impossible to be a Christian without having all that is in Christ ...all Christ’s righteousness is ours, to whom God hath given it. Christ lays His hand upon us, and we are healed. He casts His mantle upon us, and we are clothed; for He is the glorious Savior, blessed forever.” ~Martin Luther TODAY’S SONGS "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" words and music by Helen H.
