Romans—Part 46

September 16/17, 2017 Romans 8:2-4

FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) Where you find the Spirit of God, you find freedom. Where you find freedom, you find life (2 Corinthians 3:17). 2) 8:2 The law of life is greater than the law of sin and death because of Jesus. Because Jesus is greater, death cannot hold Him, and it cannot hold you if you are “in” Him. In the same way, the power of God which defeats eternal death also defeats sin in your present life on earth. 3) 8:2 It is the Spirit of God who provides victory, and that Spirit is the possession of every true child of God. 4) 8:2 We face defeat in our battles against sin on earth when we engage the enemy without the strength and weapons of the Spirit. 5) 8:2 The freedom that Jesus gives is the ability to obey God. 6) 8:2 Only God’s Spirit can bring spiritual life to a heart that is spiritually dead. 7) 8:3 Jesus resisted every temptation of Satan and denied sin any rule (Hebrews 4:15). 8) 8:3 If Jesus had not been fully human and fully sinless, He could not have offered a perfect sacrifice for my sin. 9) 8:3 The Law cannot make us righteous; it can only expose sin. The Law cannot make us perfect; it can only reveal our imperfection. The Law cannot save; it can only condemn. The Law cannot condemn you any longer because Christ has already suffered that condemnation for you on the cross. 10) 8:4 Your positional righteousness is to be reflected in practical righteousness.
