ROMANS – PART 54 Romans 8:24-25 Mark Kring, Senior Pastor January 6 & 7, 2018
1. Regeneration begins with a relationship with Jesus. 2. 8:24 Our salvation was put in motion by Christ’s death by actions of the past. Our appropriation of that death by faith is because of what was done. 3. 8:24 We also look forward in hope to the full realization of what Christ has done for us. 4. 8:24 Biblical hope speaks of “expectation,” that which gives me conviction. 5. 8:24 Justification by God’s grace is a fact: Based on the past action of God in Christ Jesus. Based on the present power of the Holy Spirit. Based on the future expectation/hope of the resurrection. 6. 8:24 Justification is the action through which God assigns our sins to Jesus. As a result, we stand acquitted before God. 7. 8:24 Biblical hope is not based on wishful thinking, but on the integrity of the Lord. 8. 8:24 Because our hope is based on God’s own Word, the completion of salvation is guaranteed (Philippians 1:6). 9. 8:24 Because salvation is completely God’s work, and because He cannot lie, it is absolutely impossible for us to lose what He has given. 10. 8:25 We are hoping in something still unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18), so it falls to us to wait for it with patience (2 Corinthians 5:2, 4). 11. 8:25 Faith in Jesus includes our decision, but it proceeds from God. Faith is a gift (Ephesians 2:8).
12. 8:25 If faith is a gift from God, by default, it is God’s way of giving me the substance that what He promised will be accomplished. 13. 8:25 True biblical faith is confident submission to God’s Word in spite of circumstances. 14. 8:25 Our task is to submit to God’s Word, knowing He is accomplishing what is best (Romans 8:28).
