April is April is national Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The purpose of SAAM is to bring awareness to the prevalence of sexual violence in our communities. STAR is partnering with several organizations in the community to host a month full of events and activities to help spread awareness, connect those in our community who have survived rape and abuse, and help end sexual violence in our community. Join us for these exciting and empowering events.
Start By Believing Day April 4 – All Day Start by Believing Day provides an opportunity for communities to unify with a single voice for survivors of sexual violence: We hear you, and we are here to help. Add your voice to the #StartByBelieving campaign by posting a statement of support for survivors via a post of video on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and tag STAR @staradvocates.

STAR will be hosting our 4th Annual Champions of Change Breakfast fundraiser and awareness event on April 5th at Lauberge Casino. This year we are excited to recognize this year’s Champions of Change Honorees: Louisiana Representative Helena Moreno of District 93 and Alejandra "Alex" Juan of the Louisiana Department of Veteran's Affairs.
