Community Resources The importance of successful referrals Studies have shown that many clients get lost between the initial referral and the agency to which the client has been sent. Making successful referrals is an important part of building relationships with parents. Once a parent is successful, he or she will return for assistance the next time a problem occurs and will cooperate with you in the future. Offers a cold weather shelter for men over the age of 18. The shelter is open from November 1 through April 30. Guests are given a place to sleep in our sanctuary, a hygiene kit, dinner and breakfast, and an opportunity to take a shower. Guests are required to leave the shelter from 7:30 am until 7:00 pm but they are welcome to leave two bags of personal items in the shelter during the day. Mary’s Mercy Center

Veronica's Home of Mercy is a long-term Catholic/Christian residential home for adult pregnant women and their children as an alternative living experience to abortion, domestic violence, substance abuse and/or homelessness. Casa Merced I, Casa Merced II and Casa Merced III are re-entry homes. Once residents of Veronica's Home of Mercy have completed their program successfully, they have the opportunity to advance to these homes.
Hospitality House is a shelter in San Bernardino for homeless families and for mothers with children. In the winter, the shelter makes a place for homeless men. The shelter’s 70 beds are always full and there is a waiting list. Hospitality House offers a 14 day emergency stay. Then if residents save 75% of their income, they may qualify to stay for 90 days. Their money is converted into a money order and held in a Salvation Army safe to help them get on their feet and move into independent housing. This agency provides motel vouchers when funds are available to women, women with children and men with children who are homeless.

Individuals arrested for drug related crimes (excluding crimes of violence or major trafficking) are offered the choice of participation in drug court in lieu of jail time. Those who choose drug court must plead guilty to the crime, sign a waiver of their 4th Amendment rights, and agree to participate in treatment for a minimum of 12-15 months. During that year, they move through three phases of treatment, each one less restrictive that the previous phase.

From Corners to College: Assisting high risk gang associated youth to find a way to receive the support that they and their families need to refrain from gang involvement and graduate from high school. Each youth will be assessed for unmet needs, they will be assigned a volunteer mentor who will commit their time to each youth, each youth will be scheduled to meet and design an educational plan that reviews strategies to assist the youth in getting to the goal of graduation from high school. Community Outreach: Designed to encourage young people to be productive members of the community, this program teaches special needs teens that true success is achieved through the service of others rather than at the expense of others. Throughout the year, our teens are involved in humanitarian projects such as helping senior citizens, feeding the homeless and various other services to members of the community. Youth Violence Prevention Program: The mentoring program is collaboration with the San Bernardino Police Officers Association comprised of several components focusing on challenging special needs teens to live a life of purpose and direction.
