Schoology​ ​Guardian​ ​Access​ ​Step-by-Step 

Welcome​ ​to​ ​the​ ​step-by-step​ ​guide​ ​for​ ​accessing​ ​Schoology​ ​as​ ​a​ ​guardian.​ ​Below​ ​you​ ​will​ ​find​ ​directions​ ​on  creating​ ​your​ ​account,​ ​adding​ ​your​ ​students,​ ​modifying​ ​notifications/email​ ​settings,​ ​and​ ​using​ ​the  iPhone/Android​ ​App.​ ​As​ ​a​ ​reminder,​ ​Schoology​ ​is​ ​Lake​ ​Forest​ ​High​ ​School’s​ ​official​ ​Learning​ ​Management  System,​ ​which​ ​is​ ​used​ ​to​ ​share​ ​classroom​ ​resources,​ ​assign​ ​work,​ ​communicate​ ​with​ ​students,​ ​and​ ​even​ ​assess  student​ ​knowledge.     Being​ ​that​ ​this​ ​is​ ​our​ ​first​ ​year​ ​with​ ​Schoology,​ ​not​ ​all​ ​teachers​ ​will​ ​immediately​ ​be​ ​part​ ​of​ ​the​ ​adoption​ ​process.  Because​ ​of​ ​this,​ ​please​ ​check​ ​with​ ​your​ ​student(s)​ ​about​ ​individual​ ​classroom​ ​expectations.​ ​Also,​ ​please  continue​ ​to​ ​utilize​ ​PowerSchool​​ ​for​ ​the​ ​most​ ​up-to-date​ ​grade​ ​information​ ​(ignore​ ​grades​ ​within​ ​Schoology).     If​ ​you​ ​have​ ​any​ ​questions​ ​related​ ​to​ ​the​ ​content​ ​within​ ​Schoology,​ ​please​ ​contact​ ​your​ ​student’s​ ​teacher.​ ​For  technical​ ​support,​ ​please​ ​contact​ ​the​ ​LFHS​ ​EdTech​ ​Studio​ ​at​ e ​ [email protected]​.  

 

Creating​ ​your​ ​Schoology​ ​Account   

1. If​ ​you​ ​don't​ ​already​ ​have​ ​a​ ​Schoology​ ​account,​ ​go​ ​to​ ​app.schoology.com/register.php​​ ​and​ ​click​ ​Parent 

  2. Enter​ ​your​ ​Parent​ ​Access​ ​Code​,​ ​found​ ​in​ ​your​ ​email.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​a​ ​12-digit​ ​code​ ​in​ ​the​ ​xxxx-xxxx-xxxx  format. 

  3. Fill​ ​out​ ​the​ ​form​ ​with​ ​your​ ​information.  4. Click​ ​Register​​ ​to​ ​complete.  5. When​ ​you​ ​use​ ​a​ ​Parent​ ​Access​ ​Code​​ ​to​ ​create​ ​an​ ​account,​ ​you​ ​are​ ​automatically​ ​associated​ ​to​ ​your  child.​ ​To​ ​login​ ​and​ ​view​ ​your​ ​child(ren)’s​ ​courses,​ ​visit​ ​app.schoology.com/​​ ​and​ ​use​ ​your​ ​newly​ ​created  login​ ​credentials.  

  *Multiple​ ​parents​ ​and/or​ ​guardians​ ​can​ ​use​ ​the​ ​same​ ​access​ ​code​ ​to​ ​set​ ​up​ ​individual​ ​parent​ ​accounts 

Add​ ​Additional​ ​Children​ ​to​ ​Your​ ​Account 

 

If​ ​you​ ​already​ ​have​ ​a​ ​parent​ ​account​ ​in​ ​Schoology​ ​for​ ​one​ ​child,​ ​you​ ​can​ ​add​ ​additional​ ​children​ ​to​ ​your​ ​account:

1. Log​ ​in​ ​to​ ​your​ ​Schoology​​ ​account​ ​at​ ​https://app.schoology.com/​​ ​using​ ​your​ ​username/email​ ​address  and​ ​password​ ​that​ ​you​ ​just​ ​created.  2. Click​ ​the​​ ​drop-down​ ​arrow​​ ​next​ ​to​ ​your​ ​name​ ​in​ ​the​ ​top-right​ ​corner.  3. Click​ ​the​ ​Add​ ​Child​ ​button​. 

  4. Enter​ ​the​ ​Child​ ​Code​ ​for​ ​the​ ​child​ ​you're​ ​adding.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​the​ ​same​ ​as​ ​your​ ​Parent​ ​Access​ ​Code​,​ ​the  12-digit​ ​code​ ​in​ ​xxxx-xxxx-xxxx​​ ​that​ ​you​ ​received​ ​in​ ​the​ ​email.   5. Click​ ​the​ ​Use​ ​Code​​ ​button​ ​to​ ​complete. 

Email​ ​Notification​ ​Settings 

You​ ​may​ ​elect​ ​to​ ​receive​ ​two​ ​email​ ​digests​ ​of​ ​your​ ​child(ren)'s​ ​activity​ ​in​ ​Schoology.​ ​To​ ​save​ ​email​ ​digest​ ​settings  in​ ​your​ ​parent​ ​account:  1. Click​ ​the​ ​down-facing​ ​arrow​​ ​on​ ​the​ ​top​ ​right​ ​of​ ​your​ ​Schoology​ ​account.  2. Select​ ​a​ ​child​ ​from​ ​the​ ​list​ ​that​ ​appears​ ​in​ ​the​ ​dropdown​ ​menu.  3. Once​ ​you're​ ​viewing​ ​the​ ​child's​ ​account,​ ​click​ ​the​ ​down-facing​ ​arrow​ ​again.  4. Select​ ​the​ ​Notifications​​ ​option​ ​in​ ​the​ ​dropdown​ ​menu.  5. From​ ​the​ ​Notifications​ ​area,​ ​you​ ​can​ ​elect​ ​to​ ​receive​ ​one​ ​or​ ​both​ ​of​ ​two​ ​email​ ​summaries:  ○ To​ ​receive​ ​the​ ​Parent​ ​Email​ ​Digest​,​ ​select​ ​On​​ ​in​ ​your​ ​Email​ ​Summary​ ​menu.  ○ You​ ​can​ ​receive​ ​emails​ ​on​ ​a​ ​Daily​ ​or​ ​Weekly​ ​basis​.​ ​If​ ​you​ ​choose​ ​Daily​,​ ​you​ ​may​ ​set​ ​a​ ​time​ ​at  which​ ​the​ ​notification​ ​will​ ​be​ ​sent​ ​to​ ​your​ ​inbox.​ ​If​ ​you​ ​choose​ ​Weekly​,​ ​you'll​ ​have​ ​an​ ​additional  option​ ​to​ ​select​ ​the​ ​day​ ​of​ ​the​ ​week​ ​you'd​ ​like​ ​to​ ​receive​ ​the​ ​email.  ○ To​ ​receive​ ​the​ ​Overdue​ ​Submissions​ ​Email​,​ ​select​ ​On​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Email​ ​Notification​ ​menu.

Using​ ​the​ ​iOS​ ​or​ ​Android​ ​Phone​ ​App 

Once​ ​you​ ​have​ ​created​ ​your​ ​new​ ​Schoology​ ​account,​ ​you​ ​can​ ​access​ ​your​ ​student’s​ ​course-info.​ ​Depending​ ​on  your​ ​device,​ ​Search​ ​the​ ​iOS​ ​App​ ​or​ ​Android​ ​Google​ ​Play​ ​Store.    1. Once​ ​you​ ​have​ ​downloaded​ ​and​ ​opened​ ​the​ ​app,​ ​click​ C ​ ONTINUE​ ​on​ ​the​ ​main​ ​screen​ ​rather​ ​than​ ​typing  in​ ​the​ ​school​ ​name. 

  2. On​ ​the​ ​new​ ​screen,​ ​type​ ​in​ ​your​ ​Schoology-connected​ ​email​ ​and​ ​newly​ ​created​ ​password. 

  3. Once​ ​logged​ ​in,​ ​you​ ​will​ ​see​ ​a​ ​stream​ ​of​ ​your​ ​Schoology​ ​profile.  4. In​ ​the​ t​ op-left,​ ​click​ ​the​ ​3​ ​lines​ ​to​ ​open​ ​the​ ​options​ ​menu. 

  5. From​ ​the​ ​drop-down,​ ​click​ ​My​ ​Children.

6. You​ ​will​ ​then​ ​be​ ​able​ ​to​ ​view​ ​your​ ​student’s​ ​course​ ​updates,​ ​assignments,​ ​calendar,​ ​and​ ​other​ ​important  class​ ​info. 

  7. If​ ​you​ ​have​ ​more​ ​than​ ​one​ ​student,​ ​click​ ​the​ ​drop-down​ ​next​ ​to​ ​their​ ​name​ ​to​ ​switch​ ​between​ ​students.
