Mazama High School 3009 Summers Lane Klamath Falls, OR 97603 You are invited to participate in the second annual Mazama College and Career Fair at Mazama High School! The Mazama High School counseling department would like to invite you to participate in our second annual Mazama College and Career Fair on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in our gymnasiums at Mazama High School. We are working to invite a wide variety of local businesses, professionals in various career fields, college departments, college admissions representatives, and military recruiters. The end goal is to expose Klamath County high school students to a wide variety of potential careers and put them in contact with individuals and colleges that can help them continue their education after high school. Approximately 1,100 Klamath County students attended our inaugural College and Career Fair. This year we hope to host approximately 1,500 students from: Mazama High School, Henley High School, Falcon Heights Academy, Great Basin Homeschool Center, Bonanza High School, Lost River High School, Chiloquin High School, Brixner Junior High, Klamath Union High School, EagleRidge High School, Hosanna Christian Academy, and Triad School. The Mazama College and Career Fair will be set up much like any other job or college fair. We will have tables for each participant to set up materials. Students will filter in and out of the gymnasiums on a schedule to keep traffic steady. Participants are encouraged to bring materials used in your career field; hands-on demonstrations; and/or materials to promote your business, college, or the military. If you offer part-time jobs, internships, or scholarships to students, we encourage you to bring these materials as well. You may view pictures and videos from our inaugural fair here http://bit.ly/2sUiYiz. More details about the fair are listed on the reverse side of this letter. If you would like to participate in the Mazama College and Career Fair and you would like more information please contact Jessica Radmaker Reichardt at [email protected] or 541-851-8834 or Armando Ojeda at [email protected] or 541-851-8839. If you have no further questions and would like to skip directly to registering for the fair, please enter your information on this Google Form http://bit.ly/2lcnqpE. Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to bringing this amazing opportunity to our Klamath County high school students again! Sincerely, Jessica Radmaker Reichardt, M.S. Mazama College and Career Fair Details: Goals:    

To expose Klamath County high school students to a wide variety of potential careers. To educate students as to what steps they need to take in order to obtain a career and be successful in a particular career field. To bridge the gap between high school and careers. To put students in contact with individuals (i.e. colleges, apprenticeships, training programs) who can help them continue their education/training after high school. To create a stronger college and career ready culture at the Klamath County high schools; which will, in turn, strengthen the workforce in Klamath County.

Attendees: We estimate that up to 1,500 students will attend the Mazama College and Career Fair Participants:  

If you would like to participate, please RSVP with the counseling department at Mazama High School via e-mail, telephone, or you may skip directly to our Google form to confirm your details http://bit.ly/2lcnqpE. On the Google form participants will list all of their contact information and may indicate the number of individuals attending and any necessary accommodations (electricity will be available to a limited number of participants who request this; WIFI will be open to everyone). Each participant will have a table and chairs provided to them in our gymnasiums. You may bring a table cloth, banner, or any other type of sign to promote your business, college, or military branch. If you would like MHS students to create a sign for your business, you may indicate so on the Google form. We have several blue table cloths for participants who do not have their own table cloth. Participants are encouraged to bring materials used in your career field; hands-on demonstrations; and/or materials to promote your business, college, or military branch. If you offer part-time jobs, internships, or scholarships to students, we encourage you to bring these materials as well. Last year some participants gave out small freebies to students (stress balls, pens, stickers, snack sized food items, etc). This was something students really enjoyed. This is not necessary but if you would like to do this, please feel free to bring any of these materials. We are sorry but we cannot allow homemade snacks at the fair. On the day of the event, participants will park in front of Mazama High School and be directed to their table in the gymnasiums by a student or staff volunteer. These volunteers will help you set up your table and electricity, if needed. We will have a hospitality room open with snacks and beverages for all participants, much like we did last year. Students will filter in and out of the gymnasiums on a schedule to keep traffic steady. Students will be given a list of potential questions to help spark conversation between students and participants. Students will be directed to visit the tables of the businesses, colleges, and military branches that suit their interests. Students may ask you to sign their sign off sheet after your conversation so they may earn prizes or extra credit in their classes. The goal is that students will be able to have discussions one-on-one and in small groups with people who can help them learn about a particular career field and the steps they can take now to set themselves up to be successful in the future. Students may also find part-time jobs or mentors to help them with their senior project. We will use an incentive system to encourage students to talk with multiple participants, much like we did last year. Students will have a sign off sheet for participants to sign after having a conversation. Students will turn in these sheets to be entered to win prizes. If you would like to donate a prize to the fair, please indicate so on the Google form. This is completely optional; we appreciate your generosity.
